Fair enough
I have a friend I met when I lived in CA that was a production manager at Tesla. He said Elon is tough to work for because he has high expectations. The thing about it though is that Elon can make you rich too. My friend already retired 3 years ago just off of his stock options. He was at Tesla from the early days, though.
If I were young I would put up with some crap to learn from and work for someone like Elon. Just my opinion.

I have been permanently banned from Reddit for months…. Tried to make a new account and they banned that too

I'll be curious to see if he can navigate this transitional period. Elite workers in tech aren't really used to being micromanaged. It will be interesting to watch.
The dude read Russian rocketry books to learn how to build reusable spaceships that land themselves
Anyone who bets against him fixing Twitter is special

They will just go work remote at the next company, terrible move by Elon
Will the next company have the same kind of salary, benefits package, and upward mobility opportunities?
I imagine one of the largest tech companies will offer much better incentives than some start up.

That is the other thing. Based on Musk's record, you'd be a fool to not try to stick it out at "new" Twitter if you still have a job there.

They can probably leverage their experience with twitter for a higher salary….

If he takes it public again I'm going all in.

They said it was literally impossible to create a new car company much less an electric car company. They said the car manufacturers were too large and the barriers too great.
Twitter is a fricking joke compared to building and selling cars in mass scale
Now the only wild card is that he has stepped into the political arena. He will face the most powerful forces he has ever faced now.

zero reason for a tech worker to have to be at a desk in an office. This move is so the 8 different bosses can hassle Peter Gibbons about the cover sheet on his TPS Reports.
$8

But if you’re already an experienced and proven tech resource, especially upper mid to senior level SME, you’re not going to put up with overbearing policies just for the sake of the policy when many other companies are out there that want your expertise.

I wouldn’t say that telling someone you need them in the office is micromanagement.
Accountability? Sure
Micromanagement? Nah

Google has been quietly laying people off and slashing budgets.
Can't comment on the quiet layoffs as I haven't seen anything, but they are definitely slashing budgets. Especially around travel.

I am fascinated by Elon Musk.
The guy is certainly a business titan, there is no honest debate on that. He's surprisingly personable for a type-A, though peculiar eccentric.
Perhaps what I find most interesting is how he regularly has one on one, unscripted and direct interviews with people. He's forthcoming and surprisingly specific with his words, answering honestly and unambiguously.
Regarding his actions regarding twidder, the dude is toying with the entrenched liberal structure, slowly rooting out the bad apples. He is making calculated decisions and I suspect every response/reaction is exactly what he expects.
Note: I don't have a bro-crush for the dude, I'm simply fascinated by someone expertly playing his field.

Tech workers are really easily replaced at the operations/maintenance/coding level. Creativity/Architect level is where you need to waste time buttering them up.
That's a very general statement. People think IT and instantly think about dudes just cranking out code for some application or website. I agree there, however the data side of things are much harder to replace.

Making them work in the office isn't being micromanaged, that is just a regular job. I work everyday in an office but my boss is not a micromanager.
Agreed. I think having the flexibility to work from home when needed is great like if you have a sick kid or something but we saw a significant decline in quality designs during COVID in the construction industry. Engineers and architects were putting stuff out that didn't even make sense. The number of poor designs have started to decrease as people returned to the office. Only leaves me to believe strictly working from home was allowing things to get missed and skipped over.

They got you on a list.
Man the pro-Reddit crowd hates to hear about people getting banned. All these salty downvotes.

However, hopefully that is being pulled out of the platform
Insert gif of Charlton Heston laughing or the Di Caprio meme.
You can't out the genie back in the bottle. Musk knows that he has a platform for shaping society to his benefit.
It's quite amusing that all the Musk philaters believe he is going to be a benevolent dictator. Just like the last boss he is the same. He only wants speech on the platform that he agrees with and that will make him money.

Crazy that I'm assuming that they all still HAVE offices, but where given the option to work from home when they wanted.
