So I guess not “murder”
I'd think manslaughter at the most.

Yes, sorry for the confusing wording there. I’ll edit
Seemed obvious to me what you meant.

My mother lives a couple houses down on that street. She had no clue this happened until I told her about it. All of her neighbors that I have met have been pleasant, down to earth people, so this is quite shocking.
There's no way the neighbor who saved the woman will face charges in St Tammany.

quote:
The incident unfolded early Monday morning in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, where deputies were called out to a subdivision near the town of Mandeville on a report of gunshots.
When the deputies arrived, they found one male who was deceased as well as a woman suffering from stab injuries, and were quickly able to piece together what happened.
Detectives with the STPSO Major Crimes Unit learned that the female had exited through a window of a residence and was attempting to get help from neighbors after her boyfriend attacked her inside the home.
The boyfriend was attacking the female victim with a knife when a neighbor exited his residence and demanded he stop.
When the suspect refused and continued the attack his girlfriend, the neighbor fired his weapon, striking the suspect.
The suspect, identified by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner as 49-year-old Shawn Quinn, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries, but were it not for the neighbor's armed intervention her injuries would likely have been far more severe, and perhaps even fatal.
St. Tammany Sheriff Randy Smith described the attack on the woman as a "violent and extremely dangerous situation," adding that "the neighbor’s actions appear to have prevented further serious injury or loss of life."

It wasn’t confusing, but adding a little more detail lets me know without a shadow of a doubt that the neighbor shouldn’t be in any trouble for killing this piece of filth.

Don't be a retard. I too grew up on that street. Nice headline to draw attention to yourself with "murder".
The neighbor (Richard Suarez or Richie Suarez) is a hero and you are disgusting for insinuating anything less.
The woman was running and screaming for her life into the neighbor's yard after the attacker, Shawn Quinn, entered her residence, grabbed a knife, and said he was going to kill her. She fled the house until he caught her and began attacking her with the knife stabbing her multiple times while she fought and cried desperately for help.
Suarez heard her screams and came to her rescue demanding Quinn to stop the attack, firing warning shots, a shot to a nonlethal area of the Quinn's body, and when that still didn't stop him from the attempted murder of the victim, the final shot which ended the attack.
Suarez and his family then rendered aid to the woman and her son, who almost had to watch his mother be murdered, until emergency responders arrived.
That man has been through a lot. He made an impossible decision that you most assuredly would have deferred, and he saved that woman's life in the literal nick of time. Show some respect.

If I’m on the jury the shooter is walking.
The sheriff has already credited the shooter with saving the woman's life. I doubt that there will be any criminal prosecution.

It’s him. He’s done his community service as far as I’m concerned. Clean slate.

Sounds like he recognized he had a problem, and got help. He made a mistake, and owned up to it.
PTSD is a real thing, as are veteran suicides.
That said, he saved this woman's life.
He made the exact right decision, at a critical time, and his military training kept her alive, and her son with a mother.

So I guess not “murder”.
In this case, you have admitted to irresponsibly maligning a man for heroically rescuing a neighbor in need.
Now fix the title before someone files a lawsuit against you for libel - which you have already admitted doing, but failed to correct.

I hope this somehow helps his PTSD and doesn’t exacerbate it.

IMO the shooter showed immense restraint before shooting. No charges.
