Just come out and say you’re a democrat. Go ahead and move. You’ll be right at home

You should’ve never included this tidbit. You knew how this was gonna go.

Do people really care this much about politics? I understand the secondary implications like taxes and whatnot.

If double the salary is 75k to 150k, I probably wouldn’t move. If 200k to 400k, I probably would move.

They are 7 and 5 and are doing great. The older one is shy and just recently got his social confidence up. That is probably my biggest issue; this is a bad move for him

At that age I wouldn’t worry about it. When I was a kid my Dad got moved around every 18 months to 30 months tops to different countries. I can’t say I was ever thrilled when he came home and announced we were moving but I can honestly say I never felt like I couldn’t adapt to the new place. And at least your kids will still be going to English speaking schools.

Haven’t read thru the thread, but im guessing i might be the only one who doesnt think it’s a bad idea…. Im a Registered Independent (#humblebrag) so i have no dog in the fight- but politically speaking, Anaheim is in Orange County which at one point was THE most republican county in these United States.. and is still pretty much ruby red.. California gets a bad rap here but it’s a beautiful state with loads of stuff to do.. i lived in SoCal myself and the only reason i left is it was too far from family in La for me at the time… Also, TX doesnt have state tax but they MORE than make up for it with exorbitant property taxes.. Good luck .

If you base your entire move on what a random internet board says, then you get what you deserve.

Also if you move to California, you get what you deserve.

You’re not the only one. I’d much rather live in Anaheim than Dallas.

That is an aberration, since his opponent happened to be the biggest shite stain and international embarrassment that America has ever seen .

But he doesn't live in Dallas, he lives in Soutlake which is a nice area of DFW. I make the trek from North Arlington to go to the 24 hr Fitness and the COSTCO. Much nicer scenery than the ones in South Arlington.

Did a project in Anaheim with Boeing engineers some years ago, they were all conservative and good dudes. I liked Anaheim, the area we stayed in was clean, good restaurants, no crime and manageable traffic.

If it's an upward move leading to bigger and better things there or elsewhere in your company, go for it. Housing cost is obviously the biggest drawback and 2x your present salary won't equalize to CA home costs and taxes vs TX.

John Wayne's statue at the airport is awesome, blew me away when I first saw it. Very cool.

This is why whenever i hear or read people say “I wish California would just fall off into the ocean!” - i automatically think their IQ must be severely low…. I lived in CA, and i met way more rednecks than i ever met living in Louisiana .. CA is a mix of lots of different types of people , and it can pretty much be whatever you want it to be, and has pretty much something for everyone .
