What the frick?

Why not just let dad watch them while you’re rebooking?

Camilia McMillie, 25, is now facing charges of aggravated battery, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct

Seems a little excessive, TBH.?
Whats excessive about it?

She threw a computer at another person and struck them with it - aggravated battery.

She destroyed several computers - criminal mischief.

And her yelling and throwing a temper tantrum that shut down the AA gate until police got her out of there - disorderly conduct.

I'm not seeing where any of the charges are excessive for what she did.

I don't care how stressed you are, this is unacceptable behavior in a civilized society. She should spend years in jail for this outburst

Agree her actions are unacceptable and she should face consequences, “years in jail” seems ridiculous though. She damaged the airport and airline property, she delayed flights and disturbed the peace. Those are crimes with punishments but years in jail? That’s silly.

Again, my post isn’t in defense of her actions, there is no reason you should act in that manner, it’s ridiculous.

My post is saying that I understand why she was so stressed and at a breaking point, that is an extremely hard and stressful situation.

It’s possible to not condone someone’s actions but also have empathy for what drove them to that point.

Imagine if her crazy arse did that during a flight. She needs to be on the no fly list.

She lost her kids and assaulted an AA worker and it is okay because having kids is difficult. I won't condone your shitty behavior because you had kids you can't handle caring for.

That post was sarcasm.

late (missed their scheduled flight), that adds a ton more stress.

She’s not stressed. These types expect to be catered to in every way even though it was likely her fault she missed the previous flight.

Not stressed. Entitled attitude

I’m not sure how you can say that for sure based on a 1 minute video of her acting nuts.

I’ll say it again. I’m not defending what she did, I’m just saying that she seems to have totally lost her mind in the situation. I’ve seen people “snap” in moments under pressure and a normal person can go completely insane.

The people that I hang around, when I've seen them "snap" they've yelled and screamed and cussed at the situation utnil it's blown out of their systme then they take a deep breath and walk it off. Normal, civilized humans do not do what thsi person did in the video just becaue they lost their cool. That's a behavioral issue and an indicator of waht kind of life she lives, not "oh she just lost her temper there for a minute".

I find it intersting linked right there in the middle of the article... the American Airlines stock price is booming since the proper handling of this terrorist incident.

WTG AA!

The laws that were enacted to protect Pilots and Attendants were expanded to also protect airline personnel in security positions. Ticket agents and gate attendants are included in this group.
When the employee was struck with the computer, that's when things changed with regards to the charges filed. Whether they stick or not is another topic but the laws are there.

$50 bucks says the charges get dropped

There's video of it. It will probably get reduced to a misdemeanor but the prosecutor's office isn't going to drop charges/nol. pros. when everything is on video.

Going by the book, the charges are 100% justified.

As a thinking human being, though, I think Disorderly Conduct is what I would have gone with.

At least the cops didn't use any of that "terroristic threats" crap. Small favors, I guess...
