The child's Father was where? The child was sick with what (because Mom could have been acting out Munchhausen by proxy, even if she didn't know her disease has a somewhat exotic name).?

Well regardless something is wrong with her and at the very least the child should be taken away from her. You wonder where the father is in all of this? Probably just some dude that knocked her up and don’t want any responsibility for the kid.
