This. For almost everyone, buying an expensive arse car every few years will prevent you from retiring years earlier than if they didn’t.

I’m in the market and plan on treating myself. I’ve driven a piece of shite car my entire life and am now in a position to have something nice so frick it, I’m getting something nice.

About to spend 59 on a Bronco
Thinking about a $31.5k version, load bars on top and keypad on the door as the only options. I think the base model os cool, build it one day when it’s out of warranty.

105k OTD
I was a new money millionaire with the ex and had s lot of equity on a trade. That with 25k in cash meant I financed the rest at a decent rate.
It was completely stupid.
Having said that. I loved the car. Ls460L AWD. Realized that while I could justify it making 200k a year, I couldn't justify it making 30k a year with a wife making 40.
Lifestyle changes meant it went away.
I still look at them used once or twice a month even thought that was probably 8 years ago and I could afford new.
ETA: I have not spent above 11k since then

Mid $30k for a couple of vehicles over the years.. Odyssey, Outbacks, and my current Fusion Hybrid.
I want a truck bad, but can't see spending over $40k for a vehicle. Gonna wait on the market to settle down before I seriously look. Plus I drive 60 miles a day for work. My Fusion car gets +40mpg and the warranty just got me a free transmission last year, be hard to drop down to 18 mpg in a truck. I don't have room for a junker for a 3rd vehicle.

For me that’s all the more reason to get a larger, more comfortable vehicle and one that I want to drive. It nearly 10% of my day is going to be spent inside of it, I’m going to have what I want.
We use my truck instead of my wife’s car for long road trips for that same reason, I’ll spend an extra few bucks an hour on gas to not feel like I’m in a coffin for half a day.

I frickin live the OT. You can brag about how rich you are while simultaneously telling us that you won’t get suckered into a $40K+ vehicle.
Never change.
Never change.

Thats a good idea. They are hard pressed to build all the orders this year but you could possibly get a base model with a soft top and jump way ahead in line
