Big bend

I’ve heard good things about this place from a few different associates of mine who have gone. I also read in an article, it’s the most unrated national park in the US. My fear is, it’s so remote and near the border. Plus, I like some greenery.

Voyagers in northern Minnesota. From what I understand, most of the park is only accessible by boat

As mentioned do not go during black fly season or without massive amounts of anti mosquito gear or it won’t be a fun trip.

It’s impossible to describe how bad they can be up there if you catch it at the wrong time.

St Gaudens National Historic Site (Link)

Cornish, NH

I’m one of the few folks I know to have visited there.

Sumbitch designed this while he was about to succumb to cancer-

Great Basin is out of the way but spectacular.

While Zion's my current fav, Canyonlands is close. Canyonlands is just so vast. Great 4WD opportunities there, get out away from the crowds. Dead Horse Point St Park next to the Canyonlands Island In The Sky district, it's awesome.

We visited Lassen in early May several years ago. We saw one car in a pull over spot and not a single other person was there. Snow level was fairly low but the road was plowed.

Vicksburg has the USS Cairo which is the most interesting salvaged and restored iron clad in existance and is all but ignored.

The eastern half of Acadia has a fraction of the visitors that the part with Bar Harbor in it has. Even in high tourist season.

John LaFitte has several parts: the part in New Orleans can't hold a candle to the part across the river with walking trails though the swamps and (in season) the millions of blooming swamp iris.

There are some western parks near the Four Corners that have pit toilets, no running water or electricity, and camping without any amenities. Also no tourists.

Gates of the Arctic. Both remote and almost completely undeveloped. They have facilities for casual tourists,

What facilities can I expect to see at Gates of the Arctic? Everything I've read says there are no facilities, roads (other than Dalton Hwy), trails, etc. I'm genuinely asking b/c I'm headed that way in a couple of weeks.

Also has one of the only instances of synched fireflies in the US. Really cool experience.

Smoky Mountains have the largest population of these in the Western hemisphere.

There's a small visitors center at the ranger station in Bettles and I think another one on the Dalton highway at Coldfoot. There may be a seasonal ranger station inside the park at Anuktavuk Pass but that's about it. You're really pretty much on your own. No campgrounds, no marked trails. Most people get dropped off and picked up by bush plane. How are you going?

Yosemite National Park outside of Yosemite valley.
Yosemite is one of the most visited parks, yet 95% of the park is hardly touched.

I’ve been to all of the Fantastic Five but Arches. I really love south Utah and the Moab area.
