Paris.

It's dirty and overcrowded.

Hawaii - not a bad vacation, but the price tag makes it overrated.

Paris. I tried three different times...and I just don't get it. The smaller cities in France are loads better and a fraction of the cost. I know that many will argue this one.

The moon, too much dust and the atmosphere wasn’t great.

Thought it would be more impressive. I was let down.

I spent a week in Monte Carlo last summer. It was like doing a project for a sociology class-Russian oligarchs, billion (yes billion) dollar yachts, the poorer people driving Bentleys, hookers who look like super models working the pools and casinos, and car valets who bank 300,000 euros a year. Overrated for sure, when Nice is just down the hill and everything costs a 10th or 20th the price. I'm glad I saw it, but I felt like an imposter just being there.

There is absolutely nothing expensive about Thailand. In fact it’s underrated and inexpensive.

I had a very similar experience. Do not go to Monte Carlo anytime near the Cannes film festival. Sheiks and gold plated cars were everywhere. Wild.

Also, the town of Eze is nearby, and a truly cool experience.

My answer would be Cannes for the same reasons. Overpriced and full of Eurotrash and Aristocrats. That town is only for showing off, and doesn't really have much to offer. Went to several of the nicest restaurants in town, and even the food is designed to be seen/ Instagram worthy. It is not as good as half of the "hole in the walls" in Paris.

London is no longer impressive as a whole, imho . It does have many impressive places to go though- museums, galleries, restaurants, bars, historical sites etc. But it doesn’t feel “ English “ anymore- and that was really it’s unique charm. It just feels really crowded and rushed now-like generic Euro land . Totally different in feel than it was just 25 years ago when I first went. People leave London to see England. Whereas Dublin is still very Irish and Glasgow is still very Scottish .

All that area between Monte Carlo and Cannes is awesome though. Nice is probably underrated because everyone recommends more scenic boutique towns nearby. Just the markets and restaurants alone make it one of my favorite cities.

Are you the one who did the travel board thread with pics from Monte Carlo? Was badass to see. Much appreciated.

In comparison to other parts, Phuket is more expensive and more well known, thus being overrated. There are plenty of lesser known islands nearby that are just as beautiful, cheaper, less touristy, and not overrun by Russians.
