He was due to fly on flight American Aifline Flight 77 that day.... he said he thought about it every day how he was spared. He showed me the ticket , said he was going to auction it off and if it sold for any significant amount, he would donate to the victims families
There are an odd number of stories like this from celebrities. Markie Mark was supposed to be on the flight but cancelled the night before, and insultingly said he could have stopped it.
The bigger one is Seth MacFarlane, who was doing a Q&A at his former university on September 10th and then proceeded to get shithoused with the students afterwards. He wakes up late, and barely misses his flight by less than 5 minutes with it still being at the gate when he arrives and argues with ticket counter. Once it backs out he goes to the bar for a drink. An hour later... he knew that drinking had saved his life.

I sat next to a missionary priest from India or somewhere like that. Really nice guy. Turns out, he was going to a church 20 minutes up the road from my house. Poor guy thought he was going to catch a bus to the little town though (about 40 miles from the airport). I ended up giving him a ride to the church since it really wasn't that far from home.

This guy ... three hour flight. He undid and redid that cinnamon bun hair thingy about 15 times and stared at the menu list for at least half the flight. I didn't engage him in conversation.

Mick Foley sat in front of me and crank seat into recline. I took extra care not to bump with knee which is my usually operation lol
Craig James - didn't talk to him
The coolest some guy was an artist and delivering a college basketball award forgot which one. Was a big name winner. We talked said he did some 911 sculptures

I honestly couldn't tell you. I try to avoid talking to people on flights.

Me too. I usually can't hear half of what they're saying anyway.

I'm supposed to fly to SLC tomorrow. I'm flying with a friend and probably won't talk to her much either.

This thread SUCKS. I've flown a billion miles and never met a one person of interest. Maybe I'm the interesting person they got to meet?

Most interesting was a blind Methodist minister who had been in ministry for 30 years. He was headed to the largest convention of ministers in the US as the speaker. I'm a former baptist and we debated theology and drank for a 4 hour flight. Was a ton of fun.
Next one wasn't interesting but was a lot of fun. I fly southwest and finally won the lottery. An OT 8 came and sat by me. Super hot and friendly. Lawyer.
She started chatting a bunch, I made it obvious I was married and come to find out she was coming back from a trip to NYC with her ex fiancée on the same flight. They broke up while there. I look back and he's giving me death stares. She says she sat by me to make him jealous. Since there was no reason to have inhibitions, I had he most frank conversation with a female that wasn't my wife in 12 years. Nothing inappropriate but very interesting to discuss the differences between dating and life with a 32 year old married guy and a 25 year old fine arse lawyer.
She gave me a hug and kiss on the cheek when we deboarded and her ex just gave me the GFY look as he passed.

I sat by Dave Dixon, the guy behind getting the Saints to New Orleans and building the dome. He had a grandson graduating from college and I was on a business trip to Jersey. We talked the whole flight, but I dont remember much else, which is probably why the biggest thing I ever built was a shack at deer camp.

La Supreme Court Justice John Weimer. Had no clue who he was even after he told me his name. He finally had to tell me who he was. We had a few beers and shot the shite like a couple of baws.

Norman Rockwell's grandson on a flight from Italy. And, I almost forgot about this one, Mike Love of the Beach Boys.
