There is an “undercover” documentary I watched many years ago I forget the name if someone could link it) and it basically paints the Vatican as allowing but turning a blind eye to the predatory homosexual clergy that roam its halls .

Implying that these liberal Cardinals are any more likely to be gay than more conservative clergymen.
Come on. Priesthood is ideal for figs. You get to live with other men, and you get an excuse for why you never date women.

And it’s past-time to allow the priesthood to take wives.

Wrong. Gay pedos is more accurate.

Priesthood keeps the parents proud and excuses your lack of bearing grandchildren for them. It’s been a coverup for centuries for gay men. Now that homosexuality is more mainstream and accepted, you have a shortage of young men seeking the collar
Man, that has to suck if some young kid really wanted to serve by entering into priesthood for all the right reasons only for everyone to just assume he is a homo.

What a sad, decaying church that is.
The church is the people —- not the priests. Unfortunately, the people only have power monetarily -
I have decreased my financial giving until the Vatican starts having the gay pedos arrested and not spending our money on legal defense of those scumbags. I know it will never stop and the church will not do anything about it. Even the most conservative Popes have not been able to clean house and set a new standard.

Oh you again
quote:We're in full communion, woman. How many times must you be taught this? We have two rites, the Catholic church has 2 dozen. You are the average Catholic. You need tough love when you and your fellow parishioners are excusing child rape in the church in the name of "statistics." Orthodoxy doesn’t have any of your same problems.
Eastern rite thinks they’re sooo much better but can’t agree on anything either
quote:Cope and seethe, but the truth is just that: We'll see if your next man-god is approved by the purple hairs or not. The way it looks, you'll all get who they say you get. I hope and pray not, because unlike the average Catholic, we Orthodox pray for our brethren — part of the one true church or not.

We don't come from a point of pride, we come from a point of concern.
No church whose "supreme leader" that espouses Marxism and transsexual lifestyles will speak for the one, true, 2000 year old Apostolic church. Your haughtiness needs to come down a notch, as your foundation is built on shaky, proud ground, else it falls — and nobody wants the Catholic church to falter, but it is as we speak.
In the meantime, stop excusing child rape because it "matches" the statistics and gives you an out to continue with your strange, heretic obsession with what goes on behind Vatican walls.
You all are well overdue for a good "setting straight" on your church (and certainly church history), and to be reminded that you all ought to demand accountability from your papacy: since no true Christian should excuse child rape in any shape, form, or fashion. Some people have been personally destroyed by your church leadership, and it has ruined their lives and their family's lives for the rest of their natural born days: you ought to be asking for forgiveness from them instead of making statistical excuses for their predators for the sake of your Papal obsessions.
quote:
Have I become like the Pharisees; praising myself where I can be seen while the internal, spiritual side of me is dirty and unclean.
Stop making excuses and start making amends to your fellow man.

I say just allow priests to be married and have children. We don’t have enough priests and the ones we do have serious flaws. Considering what has been happening and the Pope saying it was ok for a priest to be gay as long as he was abstinent (HA!), I don’t see marriage as a obstacle anymore.

If you asked a super computer what is the best way to make your work force gay, I guarantee you it would spit out make them all male and don’t allow them to marry women
Posted on 4/24/25 at 8:35 pm to Bench McElroy
I would say 50/50 gay to Pedophile ratio

It is a fact that certain seminaries are known as "pink" seminaries

So, if a recent Seminarian is indeed a homosexual, than that individual has lied to the Admissions Officer and committed fraud on the Church. Such an individual is going to Hell not because he is a homosexual, but because he has told a Lie to the Holy Spirit.
The Father, Son, and the Admissions Officer?
Never heard that one.

You mean people who are gay and who likely come from families where being gay isn't accepted decided to take the route where their sexuality will not be questioned?
Posted on 4/24/25 at 9:18 pm to Bench McElroy
“Think” ie they have no idea
Posted on 4/24/25 at 9:44 pm to Bench McElroy
Technically it shouldn’t matter if heterosexual or homosexual, because they should not be acting on those desires.
Since we know some do and even worse that some pedos and homos use position to take advantage of others sexually the marriage restrictions for priests is not working and wasn’t always the rule if I am remembering the early Christian church and later Catholic Church correctly.
I agree marriage can be a distraction, but it is not as big of a distraction as priests struggling with homosexuality or pedophilia or worse giving into them.

I shouldn't be so crude, I am a crude man to a fault, but that's the deck life gave me. Even so, I have had it made compared to Orthodox people in, say, modern day Syria.
And I love my Catholic brothers and sisters, half my family are Catholic, and there are no other equals to the Orthodox church, but get yall's church in order.

It's a not so well kept secret. The seminary in New Orleans has been referred to as "Notre Flame" for many years.
Do you mean New Orleans BAPTIST Theological Seminary? Because that has nothing to do with priesthood. A lot of those guys are already married, and it's a coed school. What other seminary is in New Orleans?

The Holy Spirit conduct the admissions interviews at the seminary?

are attraction and lust the same thing?
As this is an attraction in the physical sense, yes. Part of the definition of attraction is something take evokes pleasure, which is what physical attraction is. So in this context yes, yes it is.
And this is something Jesus spoke about in good detail.
