Armand “Mondo” Duplantis, a 20-year-old Swede raised in Louisiana, broke a six-year-old record in the pole vault at an indoor meet on Saturday, according to World Athletics.
Duplantis cleared 6.17 meters — or 20 feet and nearly 3 inches — in Torun, Poland.
“It’s something that I wanted since I was 3 years old,” Duplantis said, according to World Athletics. “It’s a big year, but it’s a good way to start it.”

The question wasn’t “if”, but “when” he was going to break it

Good for him but I don’t really care what he does as long as he represents Sweden

I’m with you. I’m happy for him as an LSU guy but he isn’t repping LSU or USA so IDGAF.

I don't think Duplantis is a Swedish name, but good luck getting the real story out of the sports media.

I was surprised that that record keeps getting broken and that it's that far off the ground.

Back in my day, get off my yard kid, the poles were wood and they didn't bend, much less propel guys over the bar.

What I didn't know was that the lengths of the pole vault pole are not regulated. They are also customized to the weight and maybe height of the athlete.

He barely missed at 6.17m last week so I'm glad he got it today!

The US track and field gives shite support to its athletes so he went somewhere where they actually care. Don’t blame him.

I love how people go out of the way to publicly proclaim that they're a piece of shite

make perfect sense.

“Duplantis” is a very common surname near Trøndheím.

Heard he gripped the pole higher on the second try.

I'm actually being serious.
