About to take one on the jaw during the hurricane. The lack of mature trees is a bonus for right now.

Let’s see if my house crumbles or stands strong.

You’ll be fine - building codes are required to be followed by all builders

I’m sure there is a DSL and “take one on the jaw” joke to be made here.

Good luck, baw!

Do they not have to adhere to building codes?

I thought hurricane straps and sheer walls were mandatory in the far southern parts of Louisiana for new homes?

We're in a 1.5 yr old DSLD house. I think they'll hold up okay for the Hurrikens. They cut corners on non-structural shite like interior paint, cheap fixtures, etc.

Definitely keep us posted.

Plans and what happen don’t always meet.

If the crews got lazy while building the house, shite may not be anchored into the slab.

Do local jurisdictions actually have people competent enough to enforce them?

It really would be and exceptionally good way for municipalities to increase their revenue by hiring competent code enforcement inspectors.
