My kids are 10 and 7. The 10 year old and I had a conversation a few months back about Santa. He knew he just wanted to hear it from me. I told him that he can still have fun with all of it, and sure as hell don't take away friends or his sisters magic.

He helps with the elf and is way more creative than my wife (no pics) and I.

actually thats when most kids stop beleiving and 10 is a 4th grader usually. and thats how it was 30 years ago when i was that age. I distinctly remember most kids still believed in 3rd and even 4th grade but nobody did in 5th

and at private school most of the parents try to keep them sheltered for as long as possible. nothing wrong with that nor is it strange.

umm because it makes the kid happy and excited?

is it dumb to do something as simple as the elf to make the kid happy to wake up and to look forward to christmas?

my oldest is in 6th grade and doesnt beleive of course, but he still plays along with my 7 year old because it makes him happy. how the frick is that dumb?

you must not have any kids. typical of the OT where young 20 somethings with no kids tell adults about how to raise kids

I wish my a-hole older siblings let me be a believer for a little longer. Best christmas' were the ones I was convinced the reindeer were stealing our dogs food.

I'm 43 and my mom is 75. if I still lived at home she would probably set up elf on the shelf before I woke up. chill out dude. some folks are really into Christmas

edit to include my kids are 11 and 13. neither believe in santa. my wife still moves the elf around at night

This might make a difference. I went to public school, I found out Santa was bullshite in like 2nd grade..

If you were in 3rd grade still believing in Santa you got picked on...

The elf hold a pineapple and wearing a black ring was a big clue.

Why does Ole Miss have a football team? It's dumb but it's a tradition.

I'm the sure the son doesn't actually believe in the elf anymore, but it's a fun little Christmas tradition, so there's zero harm.

My teenagers love him and think he's hilarious. It takes two seconds to move him around, and no, they don't think he's real. It's just funny.

I don’t think more than a handful in my third grade class believed. By 4th, anyone believing in Santa was definitely getting bullied

It’s called having fun. Period.

If it causes smiles, and laughter for that ten year old child it’s worth it.

Do what you do for your own kid. Nobody gives a rip!

It's okay to believe in the magic and spirit of Christmas. That was my parents' answer and it is mine today.

Lots of kids of all ages enjoy looking for the Elf each morning. They don't have to believe he is Santa's Elf. It's a game.

Why in the world do you care what another family does with their Christmas traditions? Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed?

I’m grinch asf, but this is probably the little baws last year of believing so I don’t know why you’re offended.

Also define “special Ed” , especially since you’re assuming.
