Fake name? I guess that's the only way she could hide.

In 2020, her daughter Amanda Smith told NBC News that on the evening in 2001 she remembered her mother kissing them goodnight and leaving their house around 8:30 p.m. Amanda was 14 years old when her mother disappeared. Her younger brother was almost 8. Their older sister was 19 and already out of the house.

What the frick?

What a fricking bitch.

That’s a prime time straight up mid 90’s mall Glamour Shot. I’m sure she looked at herself and thought she was just too pretty to stay tied down.

This honestly sounds like she might be homeless or similarly destitute.

What one thing known about the current situation points to that? Are you stupid?

don't have to imagine. Happened to one of my best friends. Wife just left when oldest kid was in high school. She was found and my buddy told the oldest where he could find her. Kid went to visit mom, and she completely rejected him. Kid was never the same after that and committed suicide 5 years ago about 15 years after being abandoned. The youngest found out the truth about mom after her brother's suicide, and now won't speak to dad because he lied. Situation is beyond messed up

Not to make light of a bad situation.

But if she was knocked up and left with the other man.... it'd solve a lot of these questions about how she could stay hidden.

And yes it seems there's was considerable expense to just look the other way.

Nor is there any law requiring authorities to honor her request to stay anonymous from the children she abandoned. She did something terrible and wrong, whether or not she broke any laws, and doesn't deserve any special consideration or nice treatment like "please let me continue being a piece of shite in peace."

Why does she get a pass? Why do so many men get away with it? Look at the black population! Where are the baby daddies?

Even if you only look up stats on Caucasians, there are 3X as many families without fathers vs families without mothers.

Now contextualize the stats to back up the 3×. How many due the mother being a piece of shite and denying the father their role? How many of the fathers were deceased, as men die earlier than women? How many were single mothers who didnt know the father? How many of those men were in prison, as men are jailed at a much higher rate than women? Finally How many of that number are proven to be runaway dad's?

Point is, that stat is useless without context. Not to say its not a true assessment overall as I agree it likely is.

Personal experience, my dad was a drunk, philandering bar whore all throughout my childhood. My mother a church going model mother. In 1985, im 8, want to know who ran off in the middle of the night, ironically also on December 31? My mother. With the preacher, a father of 4 himself. My dad? Continued as an alcoholic, bar whore but he didnt abandon his children or the one who wasnt his by blood. He was always present.
My mother was located and eventually all 3 children moved about to eventually end up back with her in a different state due to other circumstances. But not without lots of harbored ill will for years following that. As I aged, my feelings about what she did changed but that lost trust of knowing even a mother can abandon her children never truly goes away. It sticks with you even in forgiveness. Its sad but enlightening at the same time. Gives insight into the human psyche. Everyone is selfish at their core. Once you know that people are much easier to navigate. Even yourself.

Im thinking she hooked up with a rich guy and he took care of her so she didnt need a job. Used all his credit/debit cards. Now he dies and she has to report it to the funeral home and the gig is up.

Can you imagine the shite storm her husband had to got through. You know he was heavily scrutinized by law enforcement for her disappearance and having to raise three kids with doubts that he had something to do with her disappearance.

I can’t imagine a rich guy who sees a woman like that as either a good investment or a fun recreational relationship. She’s no trophy.

according to what i read about a podcast entitled "Vanished," the dad didnt report her missing for 20+ days. She had a history of alcoholism. The couple didnt get along very well.

Crappy thing to do, regardless, but found the asserted facts above interesting.

my mother and her sisters were left at home as small kids, her mom left to go to the "store" and 5 hours later, called a relative to go get them and she wasn't coming back. cannot fathom why someone does that, hopefully the kids come out of it ok - the situation with my mom turned her into a raging Narcissist, and we don't talk anymore because of it.
