I don't blame the protesters, they were only doing what the administration was stupid enough to enable them and let them do.

On the bright side, Mizzou should be the textbook case going forward of how not to do things with regards to students getting all uppity.

It turns out Mizzou is fool's gold. I thought they were on the rise and had good people and a friendly atmosphere. Too bad I was wrong.

Who would want their kid going there and getting distracted by that bullshite? If you're white, everything you do is gonna be questioned, and the same if you're black and DGAF.

You could have stopped it here. The answer is no.

They have to spin this as being a fault of the school as an institution, and on a larger scale American society, because otherwise it becomes apparent that the media itself is pretty much creating this racially charged, divisive material for it to report on, rather than actually doing the work of reporting on existing issues and maintaining a seperation and professionalism with regards to their material.

The media only has the power that the institution grants them by not decisively nipping shite in the bud early.

Look at OSU's recent response to protests: fast, decisive, no time for media buildup, no lingering issues.

If you took a random sample of SEC fans I would bet about 13 out of 14 would sign it.

The decrease in donations is way higher than I would expect. 72% decrease? Wow.

Good. They deserve it for handling it like they did.

She doesn't get it. This is the market at work. Most middle class folks don't give two shits about the protesters. They simply don't have time for that foolishness and can take their dollars elsewhere. This concept seems lost on my friend.

Yep. And she also doesn't get that most of us grew up in the real world and don't need fake protesters to raise awareness or open our eyes. I wish white privilege was all it's cracked up to be.

This is an example of the free market reducing the demand for a bad product.

I pray this type of thing NEVER happens to LSU. I cannot imagine the sheer embarrassment & anger that would result from every single alum.

The great irony of the protests (in places ranging from Mizzou to Yale) is that the cries of institutional and pervasive racism and sexism are loudest and more widely supported in the more liberal institutions. Really? Is this where the wrongs are most striking?

This will be interesting. The presupposition of feminist theory driving this revolves around a patriarchy which holds down opportunity for women and minorities. Women now make up an average of 58% of high school graduates and college students. The rape culture and wage gap arguments are starting to see the light of day as academic fraud outside of liberal circles. It will take a while to shake out because liberal circles unfortunately include almost all humanities in most universities so they will be the last to engage and re-evaluate.

In the meantime we'll see more "poor little snowflake" and lazy liberal arguments.

This passionate backlash doesn’t appear to have been a bluff. Already, freshman enrollment is down 25%, leaving a $32 million funding gap and forcing the closure of four dorms. The month after the protests, donations to the athletic department were a mere $191,000—down 72% over the same period a year earlier.

Knee jerk reactions will cause this kind of problem. Stand up and handle it in the right manner when threatened. Too many businesses and institutions are afraid of bad press. Giving into threats are not the way to go, have a philosophy and take a stand, listen to arguments on the subject then make a decision if your mind set needs to change.

Should have handled it like Ohio St's president did. We don't listen to "demands" and you will be arrested and expelled.
