I will be patiently awaiting the riots in the streets that always come after evens like these hapen when a young person of color dies, that being, of course, if the murderer was themselves not a person of color

Belzoni has gotten bad. Humphreys county is a 3rd world shithole
Just 25 years ago there were more millionaires in humphreys county than Madison county. It’s all gone and everything is rundown and depressing and mismanaged. Crime is bad, cops don’t do shite, sheriffs dept doesn’t do shite you can’t hardly get them to write a report much less investigate anything. It’s pretty much the Wild West here, there’s theft of farm equipment everywhere, shootings, drug deals. Hell drug dealers use the ditch by my ponds as a drop site, I know this because a deputy sheriff told me about it
The only positive is if I have trouble with anyone I can just shoot them and dump the body in a bayou somewhere and nobody will really look into it

Humphreys county takes it to another level though. The decline of the catfish industry really killed it
People from the surrounding delta counties will tell you humphreys county is like an entire different country. Things just operate differently here
