Y’all keep saying she’ll be unrecognizable, but cold water slows decomposition down. If that water is 60F, she’s not that badly altered. They can probably make a pretty good ID in the field.
It's not the external decomp.... think about what your skin does when you've been in the bath too long. Now apply that, the dirt/debris in the water, any scavenger damage, and the gas bloating from internal decomposition.
This girl was 5'5" barely 112lbs. If it is her, the body is likely 50% wider than it was when she was alive

My thoughts are with her family.
The “why” will definitely be found in the content (texts, etc.) of a college freshman’s phone.

How many young black girls are they pulling out of the river every day? How many bodies for that
Matter?
Now do you think it’s really tough for them
To confirm who it is?

I’m not sure you get that being in the water that long discolors the body
As others have said after being in water for days it’s quite gruesome

If it's unrecognizable, they may not be able to tell it is young black girl for certain. She is not the only missing person in the river right now either, so they can't just call up her folks or the news and say it's her until they are certain

I knew a family friend who jumped from the Sunshine Bridge 20 years ago. The impact literally decapitated her and they used the numbers from her breast implants to identify her body when they found it a few days later
Jesus, dude.

You cannot assume anything when it comes to life/death situations. We all agree it is likely her. What we do not agree on is timelines. You would do the family a HUGE disservice if you told them it was her only to have to backtrack later.

I'm curious to see how the investigation goes.
I still think it's either
1) Jumper
2) Car Trouble, got out of car, hit by passing car and thrown over side.

Force the LADOTD to replace all DOTD cameras with 4k cameras that record and store a week's worth of data and maintain those cameras and storage data constantly.
The fact that they can use cameras to read license plates for traffic tickets but can't use cameras to record one of the busiest interstates in the nation is absurd. Think how efficient it would be if every camera that was used for traffic violations and toll roads could be used to help search for amber alert license plates.

I'm sure all involved realize it is her. But if decomp makes it hard to tell, why wouldn't wait to confirm until....you know....you can actually confirm it?

Yep, the body bloats with gasses, the tongue protrudes from the mouth...
Water critters feed on it....

That's gonna be super difficult to prove. I would be seriously impressed with forensic science if they can prove impact damage from vehicle strike vs impact with water

It can be confirmed now case closed !!!
Wife no pics just told me that her hairdresser knows a guy who works with the he PD and he said it’s the girl that they found. Will update once the hairdresser confirms cause of death and motive if any.

Per twitter, LSU is setting up for a press conference in the LSU Student Union. I presume it is related to the body found in the river
