Pretty sure they kept their stuff on top of the mat and one his shoes fell in the middle and he tried to retrieve it and got stuck. The parents tried to blame two white kids for years despite both being on camera no where near the gym at the time. They just couldn’t believe that their baby son died by a tragic accident.

I agree. I think what makes this story atypical of most drownings is the fact that no one actually saw him drown. No one specifically saw him go into the water and not come out. And while I do agree that is odd. It's also not impossible either. The ocean is huge. It's not hard to imagine a scenario where Nolan snuck away for some peace and quiet from all the wild partying going on. Found a nice spot in the water enjoying the sun and sea. Only to be swept away with nobody around to save him.

I already saw many black commenters on posts about it and they said even if the ruling is a drowning that they won't believe it. The only "justice" they'll accept is his white friends being charged and convicted of murder and sentenced to prison. That's often what black people mean when they say they want justice. It has to be a white person sentenced to prison or a black person acquitted of a crime. No other way.

This is why I've been so invested in this whole thing. These dudes lost a close friend in a tragic accident, and are hurting, and grieving. They deserve peace and solace to process the loss of their friend, and instead they are getting blitzkrieged by a giant mob of racist idiots with death threats, calls for their prosecution/imprisonment, vicious attacks on their characters, etc. They probably do feel guilty for letting him stay back considering what happened, even though its not their fault. Instead of being able to process guilt that they may be feeling, its being grossly exacerbated by people with a disgusting agenda.
Its really, really fricked up, and it pisses me off way more than any case like this I can remember. I usually don't follow stuff like this very closely. I hope that when this is all said and done A LOT of people get sued into poverty.

I am with you..I hope there are lawsuits upon lawsuits in defense of these boys, and I hope AA's learn to think before the open their racist mouths and make ridiculous assertions of crimes that never happened. They should concern themselves with their own violent culture and issues. They went way too far on this one.

I almost drowned in Lake Pontchartrain at the public beach as a child. I had stepped off of that slimy seawall, expecting to land on a sandy bottom. But the lakebed had been scoured away by wave action, and I was literally in over my head. The thing about it is that I was surrounded by adults, and no one realized what was happening. I had not had swimming lessons yet, and was struggling to get back to the seawall. Fortunately I made it, but no one around me noticed, or intervened. Drowning is a quiet event, unlike how it’s portrayed in media. He could very well have been in the midst of a group and, if no one was specifically focused on him, been unnoticed.

It's a strange assertion, and I don't know that it has any basis in fact, because how would you know that most drownings aren't observed.
I mean people have drowned in pools surrounded by dozens of other people and nobody noticed .
So why is it so suspicious that nobody saw this young men drown? It may have happened in front of their very eyes, without them noticing.
with the drinking, the noise, people horsing around, people diving underwater jumping off the boat drunk
It's all conjecture
but the mob has formed
