Story made perfect sense from the moment it was announced. It's a tragedy, but also completely obvious that his friends didn't do this.

eh. Go talk to a friend who grew up on the coast, or on a lake. Catching a ride home from a giant party on a sandbar or at a bar on the water isn't strange at all. Especially when you know most of the folks there.

Why is this so hard to believe? Group of friends says "we need to leave, the boat is frickin sinking"..
Friend says "man I'm close with this girl. I'll catch a ride with her or someone but im not ready to leave"
Friends say "wtf fine man we're gonna leave your dumb arse before the boat is underwater"
If me and my college buddies were drunk and I was being an idiot refusing to leave, they would eventually say frick it and leave my arse.
Leaving your phone on the boat is weird but not ridiculous if youre walking around the island in a swimsuit (especially if you're in and out of the water)
I dunno it just doesn't seem that weird to me.

This what I imagine most likely happened. Now if it was indeed hundreds of people on that island. I believe someone definitely saw something. As in saw him go out for a swim, saw him jump in the water, etc. Heard him say he was going snorkeling, etc. But that information is likely not going to be public just yet

This is all ridiculous and shows how stupid some in our society are.
There were hundreds of people present when these boys left due to a mechanical issue on their boat.
He was with others when they left.
How in the world did these boys end up causing harm to him when they were gone and he was with others?

If all of this is true, and there was foul play involved (by someone he stayed with when they left), these kids in these photos are still going to be blamed by these sub-90 IQ morons who can't reason beyond "yt man bad."

My position is that he more than likely drowned somehow. I do not suspect foul play.
I only questioned if his friends were truly his real friends. This isnt an indictment on them at all. I would say it's very common amongst young people. They are friends moreso due to proximity. Ie they live in the same neighborhood, rode the same bus, play football together, etc. But when it comes to genuinely caring for each other and having each other's best interest at heart, that's not the case.

Because you didn’t have a situation where either you or a friend who went to party together ended up going separate ways at the party, they weren’t his real friends and, in your words, “didn’t genuinely care for him”.
And you continue to say that despite nearly everyone on here pointing out that that was not an uncommon occurrence when they were in their teens.
You should recognize that you are the outlier here.
Hell, a guy we went to Panama City with in college went off on his own and came back with a stripper.
