I’m assuming this is a child of yours? If so, let them fight their own battle on this. At worst, they will get a fine and a lesson on how to hide alcohol better.

Do pretrial diversion. It’ll be a fine and you have to go to a class downtown on a weekend. The whole things a money grab for the city.
