I’m not sure they ever cuffed me because I don’t ever remember being cuffed my entire life. I was 19 or 20 at the time and walked out of the hotel room with a beer heading to the beach.
Back then it was like a speeding ticket. My sister got put in the slammer for the exact same thing, same place and she turns 30 in January

I was talking to people today who told me that the Oxford police were giving LSU fans citations for MIP for taking beer out of the trunk of the car without taking a can out of the case.

I got an MIP and open container maybe 5 or 6 years ago when I was in college. I just went to the police station and paid the ticket. Wasn’t anything more than that

Probably not a big deal. You do have to report it if you apply for a professional license or join the military/law enforcement. A one time misdemeanor won’t disqualify you but not being honest might.

Just do what the cop/ticket/judge tell them? Is this really a complex legal matter with potential sever punishment? Is this any worse than speeding ticket? Probably just a fine. Google tells me it is a $100 fine in Louisiana

Extremely jurisdiction specific, but most want their bri… *cough* … their pretrial diversion/DA probation money.
Sucks, because then you have to wait five years to expunge the arrest.
