That sounds low to me. You are not getting good legal advice for less than $200 per hour. I pay my lead attorney $735 per hour, the Associates $380 and the paralegal $280. And these are New Orleans rates. Go to Dallas and it is way higher.

And I’m about the same size client as that town. We’ll have $50k to $100k of legal services this year (it’s a larger than normal year). The rate you get charged will be lower if you are a big client.

What firm are you using? You’re getting railroaded unless that’s coverage counsel. I do work all over the country. That’s NY and LA rates. Not New Orleans.

Jones Walker. I’ve seen much higher for similar services from the top attorneys in Dallas and Houston.

It’s not Coverage Counsel. And I’m not price shopping. I’m very satisfied with it, and I’d be encouraged to hear that I’m paying his highest rate.

As long as you’re satisfied with the work, cheapest ain’t always the cheapest. I’ve just not heard of New Orleans attorneys charging those rates.

Few things are more expensive than a cheap lawyer and cheap accountant.

Dude probably had a bet with someone that he could make the lawyer quit or something. It seriously sounds like an epic practical joke or something.

Somehow this whole thing just makes me feel like the idiot for bothering to get licensed. I should have just met this guy and been his paralegal instead

No dummy, no one is paying $280 for a paralegal; and I’m not paying $380 for an Associate; all of that is for the Attorney. Although, one of the Associates is well worth it.

Not a legal scholar, but I doubt it unless it had some very specific language about not even allowing discussion of a pay cut. They only proposed to cut his pay and he quit, they never actually cut it. If anything, he's more likely to have broken any contract.

He shouldve stayed throughout the entire meeting and acted like he was showing up to work no matter what they voted on.

So...it looks like back in April of this year, he had the former City Mayor investigated and arrested for records tampering.

Back in February, they fired the City Manager, Attorney and Police Chief over a 3-day span.

0 reason a fat dude like that who probably got a 20 on the ACT and went to Tennessee Tech law school deserves $200 an hour. Doesn't even deserve $75 an hour.

$15 is low, but zero chance sizing that beer belly, goatee/fumanchu guy up in this 13 second video is he worth remotely $200 an hour to society. I'd peg him at $40 an hour if I saw him on the street.

LinkedIn shows that he went to law school at Memphis.

Looks like he was part of at least one argument that was submitted to the US Supreme Court.

Under $200 is getting into legal aid territory
