Very few people had to work as hard as my dad.

He was a doctor in South America and when he came to the States they made him go the medical school all over again.

AND he would be the FIRST to tell you what's happening to America's youth, especially white collar workers, is bullshite.

I had a boomer tell me the other day that he had to liquidate some of his assets to start buying rental properties because his pension was cut from 80% to 30%. The horror!! He had to plan for retirement!

Pension? Where can I get one of those...

Working harder my butt. Jobs are easier today than when our parents worked. Computers. The really tough jobs use better equipment too. No more ditch digging with a hand tool. Put down your game controller and get busy. And then

Get off my lawn! Even grass mowing is easier.

The only people who can't see it are 75 year old retired truck drivers and carpenters.

Maybe they will. Are they at Stanford Law?

They are in an allied health field, not law. I think maybe one of them is getting 40k. They can't even bill Medicare/Medicaid yet, so they aren't worth shite

Baby boomers would ever be able to live without Facebook. They need it more than the youth of our country.

I just want to point out that the board is having an long discussion about hard work during the middle of the work day. Doesn't seem like many of us have our nose to the grindstone at the moment.

Maybe someone has brought that up already but I wasn't going to read 8+ pages of arguments.

That's like telling the military today to take away all the badass shite they have because we didn't use it before and to see how they like it.

Our generation has it's lazy ones, every one of them do, but for the most part us millennials have to start off careers with a huge disadvantage financially and opportunity wise compared to generations of the past.

Millennials also lack a sense of humor much of the time. You are making HR departments all-powerful.

That was Gen-X

Computers mean that I'm not really off of work even when I'm out of the office. The older generation would leave the office and leave work there. Now, I can be reached at any time if I'm needed.

This is fact

I haven't had one in years and I only deleted it because of older folks in my family

They rely on it heavily

Meh. I earned this right. There were many days where I couldn't post on TD because I was chipping concrete out of feed bins 300 feet in the air.

Some of, well mostly all, of the points made by the older people in this thread are pretty terrible.

LOL.

A lying alcoholic is sitting here lecturing us on how younger people are lazy and worhtless.

Yes I am... But I am NOT addicted to eother. I don't text and drive or talk on the phone and drive... When I was growing up and into my 30's we had no such options... I have no problem with the high-tech world we live in, But most would have trouble making it back when I was growing up....

I don't mind posting on here during work hours because in my job, I don't clock in and out. Hell I was typing up emails at 10:30 last night. I wake up and cut off my alarm and immediately check my emails. There are always a hand full. I'm always working and I'm fine with that because technology allows me to work from other places besides a cubicle.

I mean that's irrelevant because we'll never have to retard.
