Not to mention cell phones with Internet is relatively new. I'm 28 in a couple weeks. I'm a millennial. Hell no one had cell phones until I was nearly in HS and they certainly didn't have internet.

Negative. As I have said before, my mentor once told me, "Son, I don't need an HR department. I have a room full of lawyers." Words to live by.

Exactly. I got my first cell in middle school and I'd use the internet to buy a freaking ring tone.
Holiday Inn, Chingy and Snoop. You can bet your arse my mom made me lay mulch for doing it to.

It's funny how just about everyone on both sides of this just keep making up shite.

Why work harder? It's about working smarter and being more efficient with your time and resources. As a society we are going backwards. We are working more hours, but the wages are staying the same.

Blame the people they voted for.

I don't mind posting on here during work hours because in my job, I don't clock in and out. Hell I was typing up emails at 10:30 last night.
This is why I don't mind leaving the office a little early, or getting in a little late. It's pretty well understood that if you need me you have my cell and email.
Now if I'm expected to show up and leave to the minute, I'm not going out of my way to answer you at night or on the weekend. It's just a different way of working.

Romney and McCain?
That's who I voted for.

What am I making up? I specifically remember the time frame when kids started getting cell phones and it was MAYBE 8th grade-ish? Most of my friends did not have any. I'm from a small town, so that certainly matters. But it's not like there was jack shite you could do on whatever Internet was available. Buy ring tones maybe? It certainly didn't make working easier for anyone I knew. I guess you could text.
The time frame where things really got easier in terms of utilizing technology is still new.

Politicians are not your side buddy. Republicans and Democrats are all the same.

It isn't about hours worked, it's about the job getting done. Work harder, in fewer hours. I get to slack off now because I busted my arse for many years early in my career. Youngsters want the crop before they tend the field.

Obviously, but I mean I'm not just going to sit my arse at home and not vote and then bitch about it.

One huge factor a that is equally as important as the recession is the baby boomers. The average baby boomer has less than $100k in retirement savings. That means that they will work till they die. Upward movement in the job sector is slow because older workers are not leaving their jobs.
This keeps the younger in entry level jobs and is why most college grads have such a hard time getting their feet in the door.
In the past retirement was an option but for most of our oldest generation that is not the case.

I'm there with u. I continually vote even though I know it's not going to make a difference.

I think that's a logical fallacy of your generation but whatever. Let's assume it's true. What's so bad about wanting to be successful early? We witnessed first hand the economic crisis and have been told for 8 years now that our generation will not be able to retire. Pardon me for leaving a company when I can get a 30% pay increase. I don't have a pension, 401k's aren't being matched dollar for dollar and healthcare is expensive as shite now.
To act as though our generation doesn't work for it is the same rhetoric bullshite every generation has said about the previous. It's based on some random experience you've had and you somehow managed to blanket categorize all millennials (80 million) as spoiled and lazy. It's an asinine line of thinking.

I just want to point out that the board is having an long discussion about hard work during the middle of the work day. Doesn't seem like many of us have our nose to the grindstone at the moment.
Maybe someone has brought that up already but I wasn't going to read 8+ pages of arguments.
