How's retirement treating you? Think I'll ever get to experience that?
You get a pension? I see you're a retired cop so I assume so. Instead of bitching about us just go enjoy your round of golf.

The average baby boomer has less than $100k in retirement savings. That means that they will work till they die.
They made bad decisions financially and now they are clogging up the job market. What's the point of working hard if you are going to work forever, and die without enjoying the fruits of your labor.

We will clog up the job market too thanks to previous generations butt fricking the world economy. Millennials will work until they die as well.

Your continued repetition of this word makes me think you have a very limited vocabulary. Not a lot of books down in the coalmine?

I'm 6 years older than you and went to Weedlawn with a bunch of poors. Most of the white kids had phones, the drug dealers had at least 2 and while you couldn't do much there was "internet".
I should have said exaggerating instead of making up.

Exaggeration maybe but it wasn't on purpose. I can assure you I didn't know very many folks with cell phones. The point I was making was that the Internet/cell phone argument that peej was attempting to make is false. This is all still pretty new.

Why not the OP, like most people who aren't dumbasses would do?

If you're only 25 you're gonna have a miserable existence carrying around that stick in your arse for the rest of your life.
In case you still haven't picked up on it, I'm fricking with you about the dumbass comments.

Meh, PJ is retarded. I skipped over all of his posts in this thread.
ETA:
The only reason I needed one then was because my dad had died and my mom needed me to help with my younger brothers. Otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten one until much later. Most of the kids that had cell phones only had them because other people had them.
And then in the early 2000's everyone had the touch-to-talk phones....because everyone else had them.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha....
Production is better because automation is better. I interviewed folks for trade positions for 10 years. People today can't even do what people could 15 years ago. The craftsmanship that people attained 30 or 40 years ago in most instances can't be touched.
The reason for the wage gap is that now it takes 5 people to do the same work as 1 person 30 years ago.
BTW I'm only 44 years old but I worked with the older folks and let me just say the majority of younger folks can't carry around their parents tool bags.

I guess I could have said we can hope to work until we die, I guess. I personally hope to create my own wealth at a fairly early age.

Anyone who complains about student loan debt instantly loses me. No one forced them to go to college before they could afford it and you should understand the cost/benefit of your degree before choosing a major.
There's nothing wrong with pursuing a blue collar job (plumber, electrician, etc.) or joining the military out of high school. I hate the stigma attached to anything other than a white collar job.
I worked a blue collar job for 5 or 6 years until I saved up enough money to get a degree that would almost double my awesome $18K salary. I kept looking for opportunities to make myself more marketable in ways that I knew would pay off. I'm now earning 6 figures. I see younger people doing the same thing so I know that path is still open.
Work hard to make yourself indispensable. Live within your means and learn to be happy (but not necessarily satisfied) with what you have. Don't be a victim.

frick that.
I'm in the middle of projecting my financials as best I can for the next 50 years and it's not looking good. Time to make a move. I'm not working till I die. I will retire, I will make a comfortable living, and I will buy a place for my old man and I to hunt on and raise cows before he's too old to do it. frick this cookie cutter subdivision debt forever lifestyle which is now considered standard.

My dad busts his arse. He is an attorney and was youngest to ever make partner is his firm (27). He is still there as one of the managing partners (I think like 85+ partners) and he still works 60+ hours a week when he’s working on a case. However, he also can take 2-3 week vacations when he’s between cases.
When I graduated, he told me “knock on doors and drop off your application. I bet you’ll get a job in a couple weeks!”
. Baby Boomers ruined our economy and have absolutely no clue how the current job market is right out of college. A college degree in 2016 is like a high school degree in 1970. They caused this by forcing this belief onto their children that everyone has to go to college.
I ended up getting a job with a great company through a high school classmate who worked there (and posts on here). Ironically, I just switched onto his team at work with a promotion. This is just one example in my life, but networking has always been my advantage over my peers. It is the best tool to use and I think it’s a lost art with Gen Y’ers. Our generation isn’t lazy or lack ambition. We are also very intelligent and efficient. However, we have started to lose social skills and our ability to communicate with each other away from computers and phones.
FWIW, I’m 28 and working on my MBA at night and just bought my first home. Married, no kids yet.

So you're okay with college tuition going up over 1000% in less than 30 years?
And not everyone wants to be a frickin' plumber or a soldier. How narrow minded. This is America.
Now boomers are telling us to unclog toilets for 5 years to be able to afford college tuition. Get the frick out of here.
Thanks for your insight, but I'm glad I chose my path and not yours.

Id say most people who reach the pinnacle did so because they had a stick in their arse about the plight of the everyman. I just have a problem with the notion that a person who looks around the suburbs at all the 9-5ers working towards 65 waiting for the day the bossman gives them permission to go home, and says "frick this nonsense" is somehow lazy or in the wrong. Its everyone else who has no drive IMO. Or as you might say, is a dumbass.
