re: Millennials earn 20% less than baby boomers did—despite being better educated

but more Millennials have a college education, watering down the value of the degree.
also, many boomers went straight into the labor force and there were tons of construction and manufacturing jobs back then. automation and shipping overseas killed a lot of those jobs.
going straight into the work force eliminate student loans and give a 4-5 year head start on earnings.

And i do think the degree is still really valuable, but it's MUCH more dependent on the person earning to understand it and make it worthwhile.
You're preaching to the choir brother. BA in Philosophy/Political Science and MA in Political Science here.
My observations were simply from what I went through, and having kept in touch with both respective programs since then.

If you think it's all some soft cultural thing, then that is frankly silly shite. Open your goddamn eyes. If you really believe in markets like you say you do, then you'd re-assess your tired schtick on this topic.
Don't hold your breath lol

By driving down wages, increasing and pushing for globalization, and placing quarterly earnings over everything else. It's been nothing but boomer's in control of the economy for quite a while now and this is the result. Combine that with widespread fraud and outright theft, as in the crash in 2008, and this is what you're left with as a result. The politicians of the same generation bail out and refuse to prosecute their peers who coincidentally pay for them to be elected.
Painting an entire generation with a wide brush is kind of pointless, but it is true that the people that are responsible for the current economic condition are in fact of that generation. They doubled down on their predecessors strategy and have continued to attempt to bleed the average American of every cent they can.

That's not a transfer of wealth.
Now if you had made an argument based around Social Security you might have a point.
Do you own any investments? Stocks? 401k or 403b? If so, you're part of the reason this happens as well.

If they’re earning less - sounds like they missed out on the negotiating salary part in the “better education”.

Who knows, maybe transfer isn't the right word. Maybe denial fits better. When the money is all hidden offshore, only a few people can get to it.
Do we have any choice? The same generation realized they could stop paying their workers pensions and force their workers into gambling in the stock market, which incidentally helps the company as well.

This misguided view doesn't surprise me a bit.
I love my retirement plan, it's mine and isn't a burden to the taxpayer, or future workers
If pensions were still a big thing, people would be bitching about the unfunded liabilities left by retirees.

Nail on the head. Social Justice and political activism do not pay very well much less put food on the table.

They still are a big thing, just for those at the top. We just call them golden parachutes now. The politicians still have them. And many other perks to boot. Why is that I wonder?

90% of the Geologists my company has hired cannot put their phone down while on the clock to do their job. Either streaming movies, surfing social media, or have their ear buds on listening to music rather than paying attention to their job.
I told my office to ban then from using their phones during their shift and was told, if we try to ban them from using their phones while on the clock, they will flip out. Maybe 10% i have worked with was worth a shite.

Not all STEM drgrees are equal. A BS in anything but a core engineering discipline is worthless. A BS in Chemistry or Mathematics? Good, you can almost teach at the elementary level and earn dick money. My fiancée double majored in biology and chemistry and knew that wasn't enough. Her Ph.D. in molecular/cellular pathology wasn't going to make her much more than $30k/year either. So she got a DMD and then specialized which is what has made her Ph.D. a real income earner as it opened up immediate University faculty positions. Her first job after residency is about $180k/year right now as a newbie public sector employee, private practice is the next step.
Oh, and she did it all without a single dime of student loans.
Kudos to you having a smart, hard working wife. Work ethic, critical thinking skills, sound financial decisions. Something that is severely lacking with the millennials.
