Workers on the lower end of the income spectrum, earning less than $30,000 a year, spend a greater portion of their earnings on financial vices like alcohol, tobacco, gambling, and lottery tickets, according to a new survey by Bankrate.com.

And millennials (ages 23-38) spend more money annually ($1,741 on average) on alcoholic beverages than Gen Xers and baby boomers. Only the so-called silent generation spends more on alcohol: $7,982 a year, on average. Millennials also spend more of their annual income on smoking and playing the lottery than Gen Xers and baby boomers, according to Bankrate.

I’ve never seen a generational comparison thread on this board before. Thanks for sharing.

I only spend 25% of my post-tax income on OnlyFans subscriptions, so I think I'm doing pretty well for myself.

How does this relate to previous generations when they were that age? I assume it would be similar as younger people tend to drink, smoke, etc. more than older people.

Kinda crazy what you can do with statistics instead of getting right to the point and saying they're spending larger portions of their income on everything because the cost of living has increased at a higher rate than income

It's true.

No matter how far below the poverty line a family is, everyone has a $800 phone, 55"tv, Xbox, multiple pairs of shoes, Netflix, etc...

I feel like this is true with every generation when they’re young. The younger adult crowd will spend more on alcohol and other vices because the older generation has to worry about other things. I’m sure Gen Xers at one point had this title. These generational comparisons are pretty stupid.
