I don't think this is the case. It has more to do with discretionary spending being seen as necessary expenses.

I know a couple of millennials who spend at least $10 at Starbucks every single day.

They complain they have no money.

They can't do math.

I stopped drinking for the most part and smoking. The money I save is unbelievable.
