I would imagine that part of the reason is... They are getting married later in life because they don't feel pressured to get married and have kids the day after they graduate HS.

Millennials are set to be the most educated generation yet. Your laughing emote doesn’t negate facts.

One would expect that to be true if each successive generation.

If 1000 couples get married and 100 get divorced, thats 10%

If 100 couples get married and 10 get divorced, thats 10%.

New data show younger couples are approaching relationships very differently from baby boomers, who married young, divorced, remarried and so on. Generation X and especially millennials are being pickier about who they marry, tying the knot at older ages when education, careers and finances are on track.

Just got engaged this past Saturday at almost 27 years old. She and I are now one year out of college/post-graduate and into our careers. We have some semblance of a financial/life plan, i.e., next step is wedding, then house, and presumably kids AFTER those other two things.

We saw the relationships our parents had. Life is a bittersweet teacher.

My wife was 3 years out of college and working and I had been working for 9 years when we got married. I’ll be 30 in a couple weeks and we aren’t having kids yet. Plenty of time to enjoy our lives now.

It may have something to do with it.

If 1000 boomers get married because they feel like they have to the rates will tend to be higher than the 100 millenials who get married because they really want to while the other 900 stay single due to the removal of the single life stigma.

This means the number of marriage is down along with the divorce rate.

I pretty much said something similar and for some reason both of us received two downvotes..

The OT hates rationality.

Middle to upper middle class millennials are still getting married.

It's the lower class millennials that are not getting married anymore.

This is why the rates are plummeting. Less poor decision makers are getting married.
