better hope not many other people have this same idea. We have far far outpaced the natural carrying capacity of this country.

What people with finance degrees are supposed to do in a few years, i have no idea.
The theory is that AI will make finance so complex and complicated that only AI can understand it.

Incredible. 27% of workforce.
These mother frickers. One day, Apple, Google, Meta, Elon... everyone, they'll follow suit. And we consumers keep giving them all our money by the barrel full. Hate this

agree. If you're out there legitimately working hard day in, day out, you deserve to be financially comfortable no matter what you're doing.

If there was any semblance of justice in this country the H1Bs would have to go first. Indian leadership so that ain't what's happening.

Overhiring from covid, but they're going to put a pretty face on it and say that it's because they're investing in AI. I'm sure Copilot is just tearing up the AI charts.
Copilot sucks but is steadily improving thanks to integrations with other AI products
I recently had Copilot write suggested highlights for each of my employees annual reviews. It searched through email and Teams finding projects, praise, and challenges to use for each of them

They aren’t going to fire all 60K. This is just a management technique to find out who is “all in” and who already ha s afoot out the door and needs a nudge.

This started circulating mid last year leading up to the VRP (Voluntary Retirement Package) offer for the 'rule of 70' crowd (age + years of employment >= 70). After that deadline, '70 was the new 100' on reviews, some were given surprise PIPs (Performance Improvement Plans which have a very low success rate), some GVSA (ie. small severance), while others were just walked out without warning.
Now this. Current and former employees are vastly saying the same - take it now, because it is about to get worse.
Earnings report comes out Wednesday I believe but my guess is that the checks written for AI / Datacenters / etc are about to have to hit the books if not now, soon, and it is not good. There's just no real market demand for AI, especially not for the investment costs. The bubble is going to pop - hard - or the government will step in, and I'm not sure which would be worse.
