Whatsapp (also owned by your foe) easily eclipses Twitter as well.
How many times has world governments, both the US and all others, quoted WhatsApp versus Twitter?

I have a suspicion the issue Twitter was having this weekend was due to something Meta was trying to pull on Twitter. My guess is they were somehow trying to capture some people Twitter threads and move them to these people meta threads.
Likely former Twitter programmers working at meta using their Twitter knowledge.

The day Mark Zuckerberg launched facebook marked the beginning of the downfall of humanity

Just what we need, another barely legal information gathering / monitoring scheme subsidized by the government.

Curious how much government money funded this after Elon stole the governments information censorship machine. The plan to usurp twitter was always going to be there...
Government funding
Recruit celebrities and corporate brands to make the move and pay them to endorse the site
Get enough "normies" to follow the blue checks over
Brand twitter as an unregulated site for white supremacy and other extremism
Deplatform Twitter by booting it from host servers and removing it from App Stores
Viola! We've recreated old Twitter complete with all the censorship and government "misinformation" controls.

You're probably not too far off.
We have a big election next year. Now that they have their new platform, establishment media will eventually start to go all out and complain about rampant "misinformation" on Twitter, and the danger it poses to our democracy. Apple and Google will then delist it from the app stores, and then it's done. Everyone remaining on Twitter is forced to move over to Threads and play by the same set of rules that existed on Twitter before Elon took over.
The app is really just another mutation of Facebook designed to appeal to the younger <40 years of age audience that has already abandoned Facebook entirely.

I downloaded. It sucks. I’ll continue to use Twitter, for all its faults.
Bluesky will be the true Twitter killer when it goes live (I have a beta bluesky account).

It's literally just a text iteration of Instagram. He's selling the same product with less ingredients.

I was disappointed to find that you have to use your instagram username and thus I couldnt get in on picking a fresh username.

With many of the women posting on instagram the pictures are the only “ingredient” that makes the included words bearable.

Is there any idea Zuckerberg won’t steal in order to make a buck?

I'm sure they paid big money for that mess.

They did this to hold your Instagram account hostage. If you want to delete your threads account, your Instagram account goes with it.
Just a way to artificially inflate their user base.
Whatever eventually kills twitter will not be a censored clone of its experience.

Now back to our regularly scheduled government programming.

Are we going to pretend this will be an actual open forum? It was hilariously shocking to me how much more moderate Twitter is not they don't ban all right leaning opinions.
