I've never slept on the couch, but my wife has a few times when she was angry at me.

I moaned and groaned but lost to the wife on that one. Gonna have my little girl in bed probably for the next couple of years.

I have a good friend who has lived in a beautiful house for the past 10+ years. His girlfriend is a total ballbuster and he made the mistake of moving her in shortly after they started dating. He told me recently that they got into one of their many arguments and she said "get the frick out of my bed" (it's her bed. His response was "get the frick out of my bedroom" and she responded "oh, you're going to pull that on me?" I would have thrown her out on the spot.

I can see why this happens, it's easier for the guy because some women can't let the fight die down.

I like the couch sometimes - but maybe I'm just weird. My wife has never demanded I sleep on the couch following a fight, but we've both opted to take a night on the sofa to give each other space following an argument.

We have a really small house and a 4.5 year old boy, so space is limited and sometimes you have to do the decent thing and get out of each other's faces for a night.

The only time I sleep on my couch is when a) golf is on t.v. b) Baseball is on t.v. c) I drank too much and couldn't make it to the bed room.

I'd be afraid my ex-wife in residence would stab me.

Here's a woman who has slept with a Couch.

Whether she was "in trouble" is not my business.

I like the couch. I just sleep better on it. It is close to the kitchen and the better TV. I don't have to worry about being quite. Heck, I would play some late night COD or Madden online. Back in my single days I would sleep on my couch 80% of the time verses in my bedroom. I have never been forced to sleep on the couch since marriage but my eyes would light up with joy if she thought this was some time of punishment for me.

And then probably a few months of sleepless nights like she was a newborn to break that habit.

Make your wife deal with it!

I was staying at my brother and sister-in-law's house, and they got into an argument.

I overheard her say "You can sleep on the couch".
To which my brother replied: "I paid for this f'n bed and if I want to sleep in it, I sure as shite will. If you feel the need to not sleep with me, then you hit the f'n couch."

That's about the appropriate answer.

Only time my husband has slept on the couch was when I was really sick one time and kept coughing all night long. He had to be at work early and couldn't sleep with all my lung hacking noises.

Nurse you have 105,000 post since 2005. I'm not buying it

Once you're married long enough you will learn to pick a fight just so you can sleep on the couch. Ie watching the game without her interrupting.

Now there is a price to pay the next day but usually it's worth it
