When I'm drunk my GF will kick me out due to snoring, but I'll just sleep in another bed, not the couch. From time to time, I don't mind it at all.

A married couple we're friends with slept in separate beds for a couple years. They seem to have a pretty reasonable marriage, they just get annoyed with each other's sleeping tactics

Only time my husband has slept on the couch was when I was really sick one time and kept coughing all night long. He had to be at work early and couldn't sleep with all my lung hacking noises.

It's only happened a few times in 20 years, so we actually try to talk it out before going to bed.

This is usually how it's handled. I can't actually sleep when I'm pissed so we try to handle it before bed. I can only think of two times specifically when we were pissed and went to sleep. But she would never think to try to send me to the couch like a child in timeout.

It's not like I make her. She just knows I won't sleep on the couch so she does

For me, it's a simple breakdown.

1. No

2. If I ever did, I would likely have done something unbelievably bad to feel like I deserved(not some simple fight over nothing), which I can't foresee happening.

3. An addendum to #2, why the heck would I sleep in the couch, when I have extra beds in my home?

Sometimes when the wife is acting crazy it's nice just to get away.

Same goes for men that let themselves get kicked out of their homes that they're paying for.

the only time me or my wife will sleep on the couch (or guest bedroom) is when one of us is sick

Definitely true in some instances.

Though I guess it's probably fairly common for the wife to work less or not at all with the kids. So if there's enough of a marital issue to require a split, generally speaking it's probably easiest and best for the kids for the wife to stay home with the kids, I'd imagine.

I find myself in the guestroom on nights my wife is sleeping so damn hot that I can get into my sleep zone.

We have a king but I use the top sheet & comforter. She uses her quilt & a 2nd blanket. Yet she claims she's freezing whilst she is putting off napalm explosion heat. I gotta go get my Zzzz.

If we fight, she goes & sleeps in the guest room or on the couch & watches her crap dvr shows until she crashes.

I can't not argue if your next to me and I think I'm right. I'll never sleep on the couch, but in 8 years, I've probably slept in the guest room 2 or 3 times. Mostly due to a late fight and I'm just too tired to argue. And if I'm laying down next to her and something pops in my head, I'll be the one that turns around with the "and you know what else blah blah blah". Sometimes it's just better to go in the other room and sleep it off.
