I have never slept on the couch. My wife either goes in the spare room or sleeps on the couch when she is pissy. I will always sleep in my bed. If I am that pissed I'll pack up the camper and get away for the weekend.

Don't try to project your situation onto everyone else. Just because you married a psychopath that you now try to avoid.

They are all crazy on their own level. Don't underestimate or forget this.

I choose to go to the couch to get away from SO, while she is bitching, so I can sleep. But Everytime she follows me out there to keep going.

I just want to sleep.

May be shocking to hear since you've obviously had a terrible experience, but some people actually have really positive, long marriages with no wildly crazy issues like you had.

May as well just stay in the bed.

Seems like our biggest arguments always seem to happen before I have to go to work that night.

Sucks for me....cause then I'm going into work for 12 hours with that hanging over my head. Makes for a really long shift. I've told him that as well and told him he can still be pissed off at me...but at least suck it up for a few minutes and still give me a hug and kiss bye...otherwise I'm gonna be an emotional mess all night at work. Can't help it....woman brain.

For him...he gets to cool off by himself at home, and not watch me mope around and he gets to sleep in the bed by himself.

props to you for saying that out loud.

my SO has told me several times 'if you'd just fricking hug me and give me a kiss i'd shut up and be fine'

you'd think i could remember this trick.

That could be a trap as a way for her to just kick you in the balls.

I can't even force mine to sleep on the couch because when he fricks up (which is very, very frequently) he's generally not home anyway. Guess that's what happens when someone only lives at home 4 months of the year...

Of all the fights we have been in, I've never thought once about sleeping on a couch. I'm a man and she knows she isn't gonna tell me what to do. Men who let their wives wear the pants sleep on the couch I guess.

Well I used to not say it and just let us both be pissed and just storm off to work.

Then at work I'm miserable all night. Texting him multiple times and freaking out when he doesn't text back right away. Thinking it means he is still pissed off at me(when more than likely...he just didn't see the text cause his phone isn't next to him...which is usual for him).

At least with the hug and kiss...I know the fight isn't necessarily resolved..but I'm not at work as miserable all night. I know he'll be able to be alone and cool off...and all will be fine the next day we see each other.

I sleep on my couch every once in a while because it's comfortable and I fall asleep watching TV.

If my wife is pissed I sleep in my bed, sprawled out, moving constantly, and I make stupid noises until she snaps and realizes how stupid the argument is, and we go to sleep happy.

Never go to sleep angry is some of the best advice I've ever been given.

This is a really bad habit of mine. My wife goes to bed very early, and I'm a night owl.
