Do people actually do this?

I always hear lame, played-out jokes about "oh don't do that..." or "oh, don't say that...or you'll be sleeping on the couch tonight har har"

One of my fiance's retarded friends was talking about getting into a fight with her husband and how he's been sleeping on the couch. I looked at her like she had lost her mind and asked if he just likes sleeping on couches or something. She said "no, if he's going to act like that then he knows where to go lol."

I said "why doesn't he get his arse up and go get in bed? What's the worst that can happen? Why don't you sleep on the couch?" Everyone at the table looked at me like I had just claimed to have been abducted by aliens or something.

Who the hell actually does this? I paid for my bed, I'm sleeping on that MF. I'm not going to get a shitty night of sleep because we got into an argument. You stay on that side and i'll stay on my side. And I'll sleep like a baby.

If you ever let your wife make you sleep on the couch, get ready for her to stop loving you and start taking the BBC.

Maybe this only happens in Hollywood, but what about the guy whose wife kicks him out of the house he pays rent/mortgage on.

Actually I've been sleeping on the couch a lot lately. Not because I've been kicked out but because my wife is pregnant and has to sleep with one of those fricking full body pillows that take up 3/4 of the bed.

Growing up I had a friend whose dad was permanently on the couch. They claimed it was because he snored, but I think they just had a shitty marriage. Poor guy. He got bitched around horribly by that woman.

Like a little bitch

I don't get it. Like you're already in the middle of a fight/argument. What's the worst that can happen if you just go get in bed? I've been living with my fiance for almost 2 years and we've had some blowouts, but no one is going to send me to sleep on the couch like a child.

Maybe that's their way of saying you're not getting laid. Yeah, we're in the middle of a fight, I get that you're not going to drop to your knees and start blowing me, but that doesn't mean I'm going to the couch. I'm getting in that bed and sleeping like a baby.

It would never be an issue with my wife, but when someone makes a comment to me about "sleeping on the couch," I just tell them she can try to make me, but I'm bigger than her.

He's not a man.

If my wife is that mad at me, she goes to the couch. I'm sleeping in my bed regardless.

It's only happened a few times in 20 years, so we actually try to talk it out before going to bed.

I couch it on cigar/booze evenings because I'm gonna snore like a log truck and that's my decision/consequence. Plus I can literally sleep anywhere and be fine.

Luckily, although we bicker a lot, we rarely have some bad fight that spans overnight but when we do I'm sleeping where I want, but do have a very comfy sofa just in case.
