"Known to get drunk">> give the guy a break. More than a few sources say that's he's been sober for several years now. But by most accounts, Jackie Gleason & Nick Cage were 2 of the worst Mardi Gras Kings. Cage was almost kicked out of Bacchaus he was so coked up the whole time.

“The Krewe of Endymion has received significant feedback about our grand marshall announcement yesterday evening,” Endymion captain Dan Kelly said in a statement. “Some of this commentary included threats that cause us great concern.
“In the best interest of the safety of our riders, special guests and everyone that welcomes us on the streets, Mel Gibson will not ride as a co-Grand Marshal for our 2023 parade.”

They need to find out who made the threats and have them arrested.
