Have you called the hospitals in your area? If time is a factor, maybe you should call 911 and let them figure out what to do.

Are you talking about the same girl who you posted about that was being treated in the icu for "rheumatic fever"? Turns out she had cancer?

And don't get all pissy, the posters here are actually right - BR General is best burn unit in south la. Mobile, Ala has a very good burn unit as well.

Maybe provide some more details and those that have a medical background might be able to assist you. As it stands your OP is one big WTF

You get what you give.

You gave obscure info and got decent answers for what you told.

UAB is the best answer considering the info available.

Burn units are burn units. If you need one you need one. What type burn are we talking about?

Nobody specializes in burnt cancer patients. That's a small patient pool.

Go to burn unit and have an oncology consult.

No she doesn't have cancer, but she is being treated with chemo. And the burn is not from radiation. We were just trying to find a hospital that would be able to treat the wound like burns plus deal with everything else she is going through.

Thanks you. For some reason that was difficult for the other posters.

I would think the provider treating the patient in the outpatient setting would merit the first call. Second would be a potential trip to BR General Midcity, with the oncology consult as recommended, lastly would be a larger medical center in a larger city.

Hospitals that have burn units I would think are capable of treating other things ... they are a HOSPITAL with a burn unit. They'll have other doctors that can be consulted.

FYI, I'm told that Lourdes in Lafayette has a burn unit ... not sure where you are. The one in Shreveport is great also.
