always like the cell phone excuse considering most millennials were college age or older when the first iPhone was released. Millennials typically grew up without cell phones
Yup, hence my first post itt.
I didn't have my first cell phone until I was 17 (Nokia brick--wasn't even really mine, it was a spare phone of my dad's I used only when out of the house so Mom could check on me

Median Income for Millennials by State
What's the metric? I don't think you can adequately gather any useful conclusions from that map.
What age range do they consider millennial?
Are they in High School, College?
Is that full time employment?
Are these "careers" or just jobs until they get out of school?

Do millennials realize they can have two jobs if their first job isn't paying enough?

I got my first cell phone in 98, but we had a computer in the 80s
Oh I grew up with computers. I learned DOS commands long before I ever played a Playstation. In fact, my first gaming console was a PS2 slim I got in college.
I took Spring Testing my senior year of high school for LSU. I had to call in to REGGIE to schedule classes for the spring semester. The next fall was the first time I was able to schedule classes online. My roommate had a computer so I'd either type stuff on his or go to the lab in CEBA to do work. My parents gave me a PC for Christmas that year. Hell, I was in the 4th floor of Middleton studying for a Calc 1552 test the morning of 9/11 and had no idea what was going on until I went to take the test and our professor cancelled class.
Like I said, the internet and later social media fundamentally changed the perception of the world for people. People that experienced that change first hand cannot be lumped in with people that did not, it makes no sense. And I'm not a millennial hater by any means.

This is because your average millennial grew up with a monetary safety net and went to college for a liberal arts degree and now complains about the economy even though they have zero marketable skills
This is garbage

Yikes. My wife is in nursing school and works about 30 hours a week. She makes significantly more than the LA median.

Some of those numbers are below the poverty level.
Which ones? A quick google search says the federal poverty level is $11k, and the lowest shown here is $18k.

The economy never improved under Obama
The decrease in unemployment was mostly part time jobs

quote:i think this is the misconception of what a Millennial is. by definition a Millennial is someone who came of age around the turn of the century. so people in high school, or college right now, i would not consider a Millennial but the snowflakes.
Can you link the actual article? Is half of the "Millennials" are still in college or even high school? What's the cut of date of birth/age?
