I'm sure all of those people over there have so much money that they could afford a luxury such as a life preserver
If you are a commercial fisherman, with a boat, motor, nets, line, bait, etc then a life jacket isn't a luxury. It's a necessity.

Not sure if I would swim in a body of water in Africa if I didn't have to.

4) they refuse to wear life preservers because they think they're "fake" and "wouldn't actually help" if they went into the water
It's not that. It's just that all the life preservers are being used as bullet-proof vests in all the local and regional wars.

1) They don't learn how to swim because they are afraid of the water
2) Except they live on the banks of the largest freshwater lake in the world
Sounds like natural selection to me.

I guess the smart ones wait until #13 drowns before they get near the water.

Did you read the article? It's talking about commercial fisherman that own life preservers.

I'd build an indoor pool. Basically build a big hut, dig a big pool sized hole, and fill it with buckets of water from the lake. Then give everyone a swimming lesson in the now safe pool
You can do that where you are now. The pools may even already be there. Just give lessons.

You can't teach, teach, or understand people you despise.
It'll never work unless you view them as your equals.

This.
And that's just based on disease alone.

Nothing went over my head. You are overrating what it takes to get a high school diploma in some parts of the country. Never-the-less, any ol' 18 year old teen isn't taking over Africa, lol.
I don't think he meant it how you're taking it, literally.

This is poppycock. Who says people despise them. They just view them objectively. Understand them for what they are.

What on god's green earth suggests that they are "equals"?
I'm sorry, the idea that all peoples are equal is just moronic. History shows us that some peoples are just better equipped to succeed in this long game of humanity.

These aren't fisherman with boats and equipment. It's just guys throwing raggedy nets into the water from the bank and many times they'll have to swim down to untangle the net. They get caught in a net and never come back up. Life preserver isn't making a difference if you're trapped underneath.

And you are underrating exactly how much tribal Africa is in the dark just in terms of modern medicine, technology, structure, etc
Not sure where you went to highschool, but I dont remeber classes on any of that
