Alabama has a couple good things going for it. Probably be a hotbed of economic activity if the economy ever stabilizes.

The thing is when someone fricks with an aircraft it has to be completely gone over to see if that same idiot snip a wire or made it unsafe to fly.

Some kids did that to some planes at a local airport where I grew up. Was big money after they painted a few planes

Shoot a few of them and they’ll stop. They’re vandals, criminals, not artists.

How can you say with a straight face the aircraft wasn’t damaged?

Paint doesn't damage anything mechanical about. I think the word you're looking for is defaced.

That aircraft is damaged. You can call it "defaced," but the aircraft is heavily damaged and will cost thousands of dollars to repair. The FAA will be involved in this investigation and federal charges could/should be incoming for the criminals who did this act should they be caught.

quote:

Yes, defacing an airplane is a federal offense:

18 U.S.C. § 32: Makes it illegal to damage, destroy, or tamper with aircraft, engines, parts, or other equipment used for air travel. This law also prohibits communicating false information or attempting to violate these laws. The penalties for violating this law include up to 20 years in prison, fines, or both. If someone is hurt or killed, the penalties can be even more severe.
18 U.S.C. § 32(c): Prohibits threats to destroy aircraft.
18 U.S.C. § 39A: Prohibits intentionally aiming a laser at an aircraft.
Other federal crimes related to aircraft include: Piracy, Interfering with crew members or attendants, and Possessing or placing a weapon or explosive on a plane.

That's just great. Now, the attack on Charlie's Point will have to be delayed another week.

I think they should fly with it still on.

Pilot should charge for flybys.

I watched a bodycam video a couple of weeks ago where some clown from India who'd been sent over here to get a commercial pilot's license was getting arrested. He had got mad and bent the throttles and did various other similar things to 8 or 10 trainer aircraft. Apparently they told him he wasn't ready to fly solo.

He was all like, "saar, saar, please, I'm from a good family, can I pay fine?" and they were laughing at him. That asshat had no idea the world of pain he'd entered. Over here we do not just bend the throttle back to its approximate correct position and move on
