It probably will given the popularity of high school football in that part of the country. Maybe it just rubs me the wrong way because I come from a place where that number is a huge chunk of the school district's total operating budget.

I mean, a good chunk of South Carolina is known as the Corridor of Shame when it comes to education.

Schools in big cities like Dallas just completely blow any facility in South Carolina out of the water. It is a different world.

So they need a facility that can handle use multiple times a week.

This is another thing people fail to realize. This stadium wont be used for one school for one sport.

It will be used by many schools for many sports.

Katy saw the same complaints, but they have like 8 or 9 freaking high schools.

If they used the funds they already get correctly maybe they wouldn't have portable buildings. Instead the only solutions they can come up with is fleecing the tax payers for more money.

Easy killer. I was attempting to point out the difference in leadership and community between the 2 districts.

How so? By thinking that taxpayer money should not be used to build sports stadiums?

McKinney is a suburb of Dallas with a shite ton of money living in it.

It's a great place to raise my kids, that's for sure.

Wow. I didn't know public high schools that look like that existed.
Many high schools in Texas suburbs look like that.

Here is DeKaney Public High School in Houston which opened a few years ago. 99% of the student body (over 2,000 kids) are minorities... mostly black. That's not something you'd expect from an nice high school like this.

McKinney is one the best school systems in the country; and this football stadium will generate revenue for the school system for generations of future students. In exactly the same way that your college football program generates revenue for the university, you Libertarian hypocrite.

but I also don't value sports to this extreme.

I could make the argument that projects like these in tandem with top-notch academic resources improves holistic education.

i love football and all but this is such a waste of money
I think understanding just how many people/teams will get use out of this and also understanding how big youth athletics is in this area goes a long way to justify the stadium.

For example, the town nearby of Frisco is regarded as one of, if not the best place for youth athletics in America.

The great thing about living in this area is that you can have both, you don't have to choose between 1 or the other.

There at least 4-5 schools being built now within 10 minutes of my house, this town is not sacrificing new schools with this football stadium, trust me.

And the Frisco and McKinney ISDs are some of the best in the entire state of Texas, it's really not lacking for anything or missing anything by building this stadium. There's money everywhere.

lol at anyone saying any of those mile long schools are overcrowded.

When the schools in Katy get overcrowded new schools are built and new teachers are hired.

Yes property taxes are high but with no state income tax and lower sales taxes the ROI is high. A person can choose how much you want to spend on your property tax by choosing a home value.

My property taxes are way lower than what my state income taxes would be in Louisiana. Plus I didn't have to spend any money on sending my kids to a private school because the public schools are crap.

My kids are out of schools in Texas now and I have no desire to move out of the school district now to save money on taxes because the good schools, community, the infrastructure keeps my property value high and growing.

The Star is right across the highway from TMobile Labs and it's pretty impressive.

I wish the Saints were more involved in things like this at home.

You obviously have never been to McKinney. Crime and poverty are next to nonexistent. The majority of the people there have a lot of money to burn.

in unrelated news, a study released earlier this month found that there are 294,650 people living in poverty in Dallas — nearly twice the population of McKinney.

Ok, and?
