Translation: I'm going to ignore this until it fades with time, and not change a single thing I've been doing.

My complaint about the homeless is the tent cities the set up under the interstate, and generally not in a confined area of the city. For example, in LA I didn't really see homeless campsites outside of Skid Row. It also bugs me when they are sleeping in the street car stops where tons of tourist are going to. Numbers wise it probably isn't huge, but its where they are that's the problem.

To this day I still do not understand the "homeless" complaints about nola. Downtown, uptown, the fq whatever I see the same amount of homeless now as I did 10 years ago, and 10 years ago it wasn't bad at all for a city the size of nola
the only people who say this are bumpkins (nttawwt)

ETA- I think New Orleans is relatively decent re: the bums

so you want americans rounded up and put into camps?

also you must've been on some hard fricking drugs if you didn't see homeless outside of Skid Row in L.A.

What progress?

The Hotel collapse
The young entrepreneur getting gunned down in an affluent are of town
The 10 people getting shot on Canal Street
The 4 people getting shot in Treme yesterday

The countless number of trips and vacations that Latoya has taken the past year or so

The problem is twofold.

1)New Orleans for better or worse has a perception problem. People think its unsafe.

2)That perception problem isnt going to change until the city is perpetually out of the top 10 crime stats column.

Forgive me for being cynical but that isn't happening anytime soon.

Did I ever say that? I just don't want to drive on Calliope and feel like I am at a camp ground, or see tourists scared to death trying to get on a street car because some bum is in a drunken stupor with his pants half off at the street car stop. Don't think that's unreasonable.

In the case of New Orleans, they will never be mildly addressed.

Most likely because the people that are attracted to New Orleans tend to be single, unmarried, retired, or adventurous. In other words they think they can handle it.

It's not a great family destination, however.
