Co-worker's best friend's fiancé killed himself. Put a gun under his chin and pulled the trigger. Problem is the gun was at an angle so the bullet exits above his nose. He's still alive with no face. He grabbed his phone from his pocket and tried to dial 911, but tripped and hit his head on the steps which caused the brain aneurism that ended his life.

You don't want your family and loved ones to find you like this. Do what ever you can to seek help.

Well...that’s something.

Decided to punch his ticket, messed up, regretted it and then the reaper had a bit of a laugh.

Tragic, terrible...and just bizarre.

But what’s the consensus? Did he Actually kill himself? He certainly tried, but it’s not like he purposefully gave himself a brain aneurysm.

This is horrific. I’ve been feeling a little down myself lately but thankfully not on this level.

That's a pretty detailed account. Did they catch it on a ring doorbell or something?

Kind of like those that jump from the Golden Gate Bridge and survive, they all say they immediately regretted it as soon as they jumped.

Understand the messaging, but I could have done without that description. In any event, please take your mental health as serious as your physical health. Mental struggles can be just as bad if not worse than physical ailments.

With all due respect, that may be poor advice for this audience.

I'm not sure, but his life insurance company will say it was a suicide and exclude coverage.

I recently read about a guy who did the same thing but with a shotgun... and he freaking lived! If I remember correctly he’s getting a face transplant.

We don't need a month.

I'm already aware of all the crazy people.

Don’t forget the icing on the cake - he was Covid positive, wasn’t he?

Rookie mistake.

In all seriousness though, depression is a real thing and a lot of people dismiss it.

These brain health issues are more common than most people realize until one has to deal with them personally, with family, or with friends.

When someone decides to commit suicide the urge is a constricting thought that is difficult to break. They see no other way out.

Sometimes it is a presenting symptom of major mental illness like depression or mania.

The diseases are real. The consequences are substantial.

Sometimes brain chemistry even actively prevents the afflicted from thinking in a "proper" way, and it's not a matter of just snapping out of it, as some would suggest. Another misconception is that mental conditions are something that you carry for life and can't be fixed. They are very treatable in many cases just as a physical ailment is, but the person afflicted has to seek the treatment before tragedy strikes.
