Over 50 with no health issues? Is that possible in Mississippi?

Every time I think the OT is getting too much soy infusion I read 5 pages of replies dragging the OP and realize there may still be hope.

The pandemic is subsiding and masks are no longer required in most settings.
Yet airlines are forcing fully vaccinated individuals to wear a mask or risk losing their seats
------------------------------------------------------
FACT CHECK: The pandemic is NOT "subsiding"—especially in Sen. Wicker's home state, Mississippi, where just 31% are fully vaccinated.
Since June 22:
The 7-day case average is up 230%
Hospitalizations are up 198%
LTC outbreaks have tripled

Percentages are only part of the story. What’s the raw numbers too?

If there are 5 cases over 7 days, then the next 7 days there are 11.5 cases. 230% increase!!!!!!! WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!

IIRC, these #’s were from MSNBC (In other words - HIGHLY suspect). I mean, are the using the total population, including children, to determine this percentage?
Are people have had Covid previously counted as part of the total?
Shouldn’t they be set aside in terms of determining the percentage?

Man, that was a lot of words in that article with very little data. So the delta variant is more contagious and the predominant variant in the US? And hospitalizations and deaths are remaining steady or decreasing? This should be seen as a good thing. Notice all they said about the other countries that they predict we will be like in the fall was rising case numbers. Nothing about deaths. If this is a more contagious but weaker variant, who gives a damn?

I just recovered from this crap. I'm 43. I have had worse hangovers than this bullshite. it was a 5 day sinus infection. PS, Im not vaccinated but now have antibodies.

As Delta Variant Soars, Mississippi Sees Most COVID-19 Cases in One Day Since March
The Mississippi State Department of Health reported 427 new COVID-19 cases for July 7—the most for any one day since March 13.
On June 22, Mississippi’s seven-day average for new cases fell to 107, the lowest recorded since the third week after the pandemic first arrived in the spring of 2020. Today, the daily case average climbed to 247, the highest point since April 26, 2021.
The number of patients with confirmed hospitalizations for COVID-19 are also up. After falling to a 14-month low of 91 hospitalizations on June 21, Mississippi hospitals now report 180 patients with COVID-19 infections. But rises in hospitalizations typically trail rises in cases by several weeks. The number of long-term care facilities reporting COVID-19 outbreaks is up, too, rising from 19 on July 1 to 28 yesterday.

Which is it? 247 or 427?

I hope the hospitals won’t be overrun!
