Tough guy, no. I was just pointing out the irony. Make it a green apple slush and a footlong coney and you've got a deal. I'll be hungry afterwards.

The folks I know who have don’t it said the reason they did was because they got tired of people texting them.

Well then. You can add my cherry limeaide slush and an order of onion rings to your order. Since you’ll be buying.

Facebook... the height of narcissism
Here I fixed it for you, ever wonder why they have picture filters ?
So these old arse 50 yr old women can get a glamour shot for free, post it, then wait around for all their friends to tell them how beautiful they are.

Facebook is a product of anti-social weirdos trying to find a loophole to being social.

Facebook doesn’t care what you are looking at, just as long as you have the app open and they can push ads on you.
Did you stop and read these attention seeking posts? Their algorithm will tell them to show you more to keep your attention, even if that attention is in the form of scorn.
Congratulations, you are a product marketed to advertisers. Getting off social media is the answer.

I’ll bet if you mark yourself unsafe, you’ll probably get lots of platitudes and praying hands and no actual help.

I love the people nowhere near being impacted that do this.
Glad to see Cheryl in Mandeville is safe from Hurricane Delta.

Yes.
I see that realizing its mostly people being stupid as they weren’t even close to path of the Hurricane, but for the ones being serious, who cares? Did anyone even ask? Hate attention seeking behavior

Facebook in general is the height of narcissism.
The “happy birthday to my kids” post and pic collage, when your kid is a child and isn’t even on FB. Really examine that - what is the root reason people do that? It’s a “look at me and my kid and how great they are and how great my life is”
The “happy anniversary to the best husband in the world!” Post. Why don’t you walk over to your husband 10 feet away and tell him to his face how much you love him? Because the post isn’t about him or your love. The post is “look at how perfect our life is”
And we’re all susceptible to it. We’ve all made posts on social media to bring attention to ourself. It’s human nature to want to feel important. But it’s toxic. If you really examine the motivations to why people post on FB, and the validation they’re seeking from it - to me it has become a platform that has evolved to feed the narcissist in all of us and ultimately will slowly and slowly make us a more self-centered population. Think we’re already seeing that to some degree.
ETA: to address the actual OP. My wife’s best friend lived in Florida when the Parkland school shooting occurred. She lived like 20-30 minutes from the school. She wasn’t a teacher, has no kids at the school, no affiliation to the school that would lead anyone to think she would ever be at the school for any reason. And yet she felt the need to check herself in as “safe” on Facebook
Not making light of the shooting tragedy, but I had to roll my eyes when she did that

The entire social media platform self-selects for narcissism.

I mean, if like say another 9/11 or worse were to happen, I think that’s fine, but I can’t think of a moment since Facebook was invented that has called for marking safe.
