A Fox News article?
Leave it “small government conservatives” to attack what people put in their body.

It’s always funny when someone says anything bad about weed, folks chime in to compare it to another drug that has killed more people than anything else.
Like that somehow means it’s fine.

I find it funny when some big fat person tries to preach about the way someone else uses alcohol or pot. We all have the power to use or eat in moderation.

quote:So, besides the fact that you just defeated any argument you had against consuming cannabis in any form other than smoking it, why should cannabis consumption factor into insurance premiums, while stuffing your face with processed pseudo-food does not? Consuming Cheetos and Oreos provides no benefit other than stimulating the release of pleasurable chemicals in your brain.
Unhealthy habits with food should also be accounted for, but slightly different when taking a drug and smoking it. If people start smoking Cheetos and Oreos then let me know.
I'm fine with the argument that cannabis consumption should affect insurance premiums, but only if the person making it is consistent and maintains a healthy lifestyle. This includes being at a healthy weight, exercising regularly, avoiding processed and fast foods, practicing safe sex, avoiding activities that increase the risk of injury or hospitalization, and abstaining from recreational intoxicants, including alcohol and nicotine. If your lifestyle doesn’t align with these standards, you should be willing to pay increased premiums yourself.
However, attacking cannabis use from a healthcare cost perspective while making exceptions for junk food consumption is inconsistent. The argument doesn't hold when you immediately carve out exceptions for gorging on junk food.

My son is in his late teens and all of his friends drink. He doesn't drink, but he's the only one who smokes marijuana. I'm not a fan, but honestly I don't mind it much because I consider it the lesser of two evils.

Call me when they fully ban dumping toxic sludge in our oceans, lakes, rivers, and creeks. Pretty sure that's a lot more "not harmless".

Not sure that helps your point.

There is a very large difference between a beer or wine every once in a while and shooting straight everclear every day.
There is also a very large difference between smoking a joint or eating a gummy every once in a while and ingesting straight high percentage THC vape carts every day.
As with all things including cannabis, fast food, processed carbs, and alcohol, moderation is fine. Excess is not. And you should pay attention to the process.
