It's official: pot is a more popular daily drug than alcohol or cigarettes.

New data[1] from the federal National Survey on Drug Use and Health show that for 2025:
* 21.4M daily/near-daily marijuana users
* 19.9M daily/near-daily cigarette users
* 17.2M daily/near-daily alcohol users

2025 is the first time on record that marijuana is the most popular daily-use addictive product.

I wonder what the percentage of cannabis users are who smoke it vs use edibles.

I’m unlucky in that I do not enjoy it. I wish I did. I think it activates part of my brain that makes me think of everything in the worst possible light. I’m sure I could
Meditate past that, but frick that. I’m not trying to work to enjoy a drug.

I love a good edible when I am taking a break from alcohol. I am such a light weight though. 4 mg kicks my arse.

I don’t mind edibles, but I’d much rather whiskey or wine.

2-3 beers or glasses of bourbon + a rip or two from a dab pen/bong/pipe/whatever your preference is one of the best feelings in the world to me. Tread lightly as it may cause the room to spin depending on tolerance.

But is it more popular than weed and alcohol at the same time?

That’s because you can get stoned at 5:00 pm have a nice evening, go to bed at 10:00 and go to work the next day feeling fine.

If you drink daily your work will suffer and it’s much harder to stay functional. Not impossible just more difficult.

I wish it wasn’t a crime to go snag some edibles while I’m on this work trip in Ohio. I wish I could find something to help me sleep because Lunesta does jack shite. Oh well, maybe one day I’ll be able to walk to this dispensary, purchase some edibles, and put them in my checked bag knowing the TSA doesn’t give a shite. One day.

Lower than booze and cigs would likely set reactive chronic disease at a far net negative. I’d say that the munchies might drive up diabetes rates but now with Ozempic… are we finally living the dream or what?
