Last resort?!? First resort!!

It is the safest remedy currently available for coping with chronic pain. Anyone that has nerve pain should travel to a legal state and peak with a doctor and pharmacist in that state.

That’s really sad that he’s so painful that he’s looking to end it all by smoking poisonous marijuana

First off, yes on the MJ. It damn near cured my wife from a decade of chronic nerve pain. She also eliminated sugar and other inflamatory foods. Have him get on the Keto diet and smoke up at night. Report back in about a month.

Yes to whole plant usage for BOTH his diabetes and nerve pain. There is a correlation that is not understood yet between cannabinoids and diabetes. You or your friend have undoubtedly seen references to this if you Googled diabetes and pot.

Europeans and Asians are studying it currently (talking controlled scientific studies). NIDA controls all pot research in the USA (National Institute on Drug ABUSE so they will not allow any studies to determine benefits. US studies must theorize a negative and disprove it. Backwards work.)

Tell him to smoke weed, studies show it cures everything. I broke my leg and healed it by smoking every night. Big pharma has been holding this shite down for too long.

An indica dominant hybrid or a sativa that is high in THC would work best for pain management. A couple of guys that I was in the military with use marijuana for pain management and have not gone back to taking opioids that were prescribed to them by the VA.

So literally nobody else here has ever had nerve related pain exacerbated by marijuana? I find this highly improbable, and I assure y'all I'm the most pro marijuana person here. I absolutely endorse trying it, but not gonna pretend it's a sure cure. Pretty sure CBN is where it's at here, not CBD.

Wouldn't hurt for him to try Kratom either. Don't get it from a gas station, buy a "red bali" strain online and have it shipped.

If he's in that much pain I'd recommend him trying both.

Yes, it would hurt. Why don't you venture over to Reddit r/quittingkratom and see how people struggle to get off of it. I'm not joking when I say that MJ changed my wife's health for the better dramatically.

Get a cannabis with a high CBD count, critical mass is a strain I've learned helps with that.

I get nerve pain from plane rides. Helped me.

I take both & have no problem taking tolerance breaks from either.

Buddy of mine has something akin to diabetic nerve pain. He has tried everything. The cortisone and NSAIDs are starting to damage his kidneys.

Should he turn to pot as a last resort? Does anybody have any anecdotal evidence that marijuana works for nerve pain?

TIA. This is my best baw, and he is really suffering.

A heavy hitting indica. As a cervical/lumbar spinal stenosis sufferer, it works

My mom had Multiple Sclerosis and it involves major nerve issues and pain. Even back when I was a kid (a long time ago), weed was considered a viable pain management option for MS patients. She never tried it because she considered it a "street drug", but I know it was popular in some of the support groups she was a part of.

I think your friend would have great success if he finds the right strain. If he has an opportunity to go to a true weed shop in CO, WA, OR, etc., he can ask the workers for their best options. Leafly.com is another good resource to explore strains most effective for particular ailments.

Good luck and I hope your buddy finds some relief.

ETA: If travel isn't possible, the proliferation of labeled weed strains out of legal states and into illegal states makes it reasonably possible to find the strains he's looking for in his home state if he can find a decent weed guy.

Why not just get put on painkillers? Weed is much easier to come off than synthetic opioids though so probably not a bad idea to try it first.

Im an Oregon Budtender on some days.

OP needs to be in a state where he knows what he is getting and paying for, first and foremost.

If hes talking just any weed (seed filled mexican brick weed, etc) results are going to vastly vary

If he considers it a last resort I assume he isn't too keen on "breaking the law" on the chance it will work. I say take a vaca to Colorado and use the experience of the fine folks at the dispensaries. Try it out in legal conditions to find out if it works for him and exactly what strains do the job.

Look man, weed ain't no cure but it might help get your mind of things and cbd shite might block some shits from firing. Now you better see some medical advice if you want proper care but if you want some redneck dyi advice then try some meth
