Buddy of mine has something akin to diabetic nerve pain. He has tried everything. The cortisone and NSAIDs are starting to damage his kidneys.

Should he turn to pot as a last resort? Does anybody have any anecdotal evidence that marijuana works for nerve pain?

TIA. This is my best baw, and he is really suffering.

Everyone says it helps but there isn’t science supporting it,so everyone will say it’s snake oil

It's definitely a painkiller so I can see it working for nerve pain.

If he wants to go the legal route, CBD oil can help decently for pain... until politicians get their head out of their asses and legalize MJ.

I'm not talking about CBD. He has tried that. I'm talking about inhaled marijuana.

In all seriousness, he has tried that. I have seen him go low/no carb for weeks at a time. And when this dude signs on to a program, he follows it ruthlessly.

No joy.

If you were suffering would you try it?

I have anecdotal evidence of the "healing" powers of MJ. It definitely works better than any otc pain meds and would probably offer him relief of some sort.

ETA: Don't let some people deter him from MJ. People will scream from the rooftops about pot while their wives are hooked on antidepressants and adderall.

Gabapentin or Lyrica didn't help?

Some strains are grown specifically to address pain. And you don’t have to smoke it. Edibles are a thing.

Because of its retarded scheduling by the FEDS, official research is limited. This talks a bit about some actual research that supports the potential and it may be worth looking into.

I’m not a physician or a scientist, but I’m rather certain medicinal marijuana wouldn’t be a thing unless there were scientifically backed studies supporting it.

Oh yeah. I'd smoke so much it would make Snoop Dog and Willie Nelson look as straight as Mike Pence.

Studies are extremely limited because of the legality and classification by the Feds.

Why not test it out with him? Take a cheap flight to one of the free states and try out a bunch of strains.

He should look serious into long-term fasting. Search for the Snake Diet on YouTube. The dude seems crazy but the info is there. Basically you drink 1 to 2 liters of Snake Juice (salt water mixture) each day and don't eat. When you thin you can't go anymore eat a small meal and start over.

Start taking Curcumin.
"Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant."

"Most of the studies on this herb are using turmeric extracts that contain mostly curcumin itself, with dosages usually exceeding 1 gram per day."
