or the analysis, each state was scored on a scale of 100, based on 30 metrics including the following:
Life expectancy
Number of hours worked
Social well-being
Ideal weather
Economic security
The happiness level of each state was determined by calculating the weighted average of the 30 metrics, using data from four research studies that identified correlations between these key metrics and happiness.

Maryland being second happiest smells like some BS. Ain't no way a state that eats butter, lemon, and salt boiled chicken is that damn happy.

Jesus, what a terrible way to rank "happiness."

I’m surprised Colorado isn’t happier considering all the weed shops.

On the other end of the spectrum, Louisiana is the least happy state in 2024. Overall, the state ranks 45th in the country for number of hours worked, 48th in divorce rates, and 50th in safety.

From a metrics that usually make people happy standpoint, yes Louisiana is last. But I think most Louisiana people are happy in their own ignorance.

Idk man. Those metrics are stupid to me. As bad as La is with a lot of things things that are “important” happiness isn’t much of a problem. To me people are just used to it and live life to the fullest.

New Jersey at the top?
Someone’s never been there. People in New Jersey are some of the most self-hating people in the country.

I think most Louisiana people are joyful, not happy. Happiness is a temporary emotion based off metrics outside your control. Joy is contentment and satisfaction with what they have been dealt and making the most of it, i.e. Hurricane Parties, Second Lines, etc.

Maybe when they are factoring in "ideal weather" they aren't considering what weather is "ideal" for skiing and snowboarding.

Wasn’t Lafayette ranked #1 happiest city in US only like a few years ago?
Posted on 1/17/25 at 7:58 am to Don Quixote
Tennessee's decline into unhappiness increased dramatically after the 1-15-2010 hiring of Derek Dooley as Head Football coach.

These are so dumb. No way in hell you're happy in LA. Everyone bitches about traffic, expenses, and shitty people. Then you're working longer to pay for nothing. And call me weird, but I don't want hot and no rain all the damn time. I need some variation.

The criteria they use sucks.
